The USS Decatur has had a busy last few months! Some highlights include: practicing our weapon shoots at sea, conducting an anchor drop test off the coast of Hawaii, having the privilege of hosting RADM Rothenhaus from Naval Information Warfare Systems Command, conducting the Supply NEY inspection, and maintaining our crew’s gun qualifications. The USS Decatur continues to stay combat ready; Bold and Daring ⚓️

USS Decatur had the privilege of carrying out one of the Navy’s most honored traditions - Burial at Sea. It was a profound ceremony to lay our fellow shipmates to rest in the same waters they once stood watch to protect. We were reminded of the legacy of all those who served before. Fair winds and following seas 🌊 ⚓️

The USS Decatur had a busy October and November! We transited to San Diego, CA for the first time in two years. Once there, we participated in tactical training to increase our capability, lethality, and interoperability with other surface ships. We had to privilege of hosting our Commodore, Captain Leary, from DESRON 23. Directly after this training, we joined the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group 9. Throughout these two evolutions, the USS Decatur completed formation steaming, underway replenishments, and live fire exercises to flex our ability to defend the ship. Both were demanding events; however, the USS Decatur Sailor’s stepped up and showed we were combat sharpened and ready to represent the finest US Navy abilities!
