📖⚓ This Week in History - After sustaining heavy damage during the Battle of the Coral Sea, the USS Yorktown (CV-5) arrived at Navy Yard, Pearl Harbor on May 27, 1942. Initial assessments estimated repairs would take two weeks, but Navy shipyard workers and Sailors 🛠️worked around the clock to restore the carrier to fighting condition.

In just 72 hours, USS Yorktown returned to sea and took part in the Battle of Midway, the turning point of World War II in the Pacific.

Their determination, skill, and sense of urgency reflected the Navy’s commitment to mission readiness and resilience. 🇺🇸⚓
