To kick off the 2026 Midshipmen Summer Cruise phases, USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) embarked 8 midshipmen from UC Berkeley, University of Colorado Boulder, Maine Maritime Academy, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Notre Dame, University of Utah, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, May 11, 2026 through May 22, 2026. 🌊
From Sea and Anchor evolutions to ice cream social night 🍦 and mentorship breakfasts with the ship’s leadership, the midshipmen strengthened their day-one leadership readiness while aboard Wayne E. Meyer. The summer training program fully integrated midshipmen into shipboard crews, providing vital operational exposure and inspiring the Navy’s next generation of surface warfare leaders. ⚓️ One Powerful Legacy! 🏹

USS WAYNE E. MEYER Sailors had the privilege of partaking in a Community Relations opportunity at River of Life Mission in Honolulu, HI. They supported the preparation of meals and go-bags for individuals experiencing homelessness in the local area.
