This kind of executive overreach is exactly what Pennsylvania voters rejected when they voted to limit the Governor’s emergency powers in response to the COVID-era lockdowns just a few years ago. Serious matters of public health should not be addressed in ways that further erode public trust. They require working together to protect public health while respecting the Constitutional rights and civil liberties of every Pennsylvanian. When developing policies of this magnitude, we must work collaboratively to best serve the people of our Commonwealth.

The Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy (KSCA) is now accepting applications for its first class of 2027, which begins in January.

The academy’s mission is to provide 16- to 18-year-old teens in jeopardy of not graduating on time or dropping out of school with a second chance at learning skills such as leadership, self-discipline, health and hygiene, public service, physical fitness and more. There is no tuition cost to attend, and meals, housing, uniforms and school supplies are provided at no charge.

With KSCA’s online eligibility checker at pa.gov/ksca, applicants can quickly confirm their eligibility before completing the full application. Applicants can also request a mailed form by emailing [email protected] or calling 717-861-7767 or 717-861-8831.

We’ve been fortunate to welcome many talented interns to our office over the years, and this summer was no exception. My staff and I want to extend our sincere thanks to our interns for all they contributed to our team.

They’ve really made a difference by pitching in on a number of projects. We truly appreciated having them as part of our office and enjoyed watching them grow and contribute throughout the summer.

Attorney General Dave Sunday is warning Pennsylvanians to be aware of an uptick in government imposter scams in which callers pose as members of local county sheriff’s offices. The calls appear to come from the county sheriff’s offices due to the use of number spoofing, making their phone number appear legitimate on caller ID.

The caller may claim to be a sheriff and say an arrest warrant has been issued because you failed to appear for federal grand jury duty or missed a court hearing. The scammer then demands payment for “bail” or a “bond” to avoid arrest.

According to the attorney general, no legitimate law enforcement agency or court will demand immediate payment over the phone. No law enforcement agency, government office or court will ask you to pay any outstanding fees with gift cards, Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. If you receive one of these calls, hang up, verify the information independently and report it to local authorities, as well as the attorney general’s office.
