STARS, our pension administration system, does a lot. Now we can show you how. We teamed up with Public Safety Financial to create quick, easy-to-follow videos to help members and retirees get the most out of STARS. There's more than a dozen how-to videos covering everything from registering your STARS account to using the pension benefit, DROP balance and service purchase estimators, to updating banking information, making tax elections and even submitting cancer insurance claims. Whether you’re just getting started or looking for help with a specific task, there’s probably a video for that. Check out the STARS how-to video series on the portal page and see what you can do!

Great visit with Tucson Fire Fighters Association Local 479 retired firefighters to discuss the additional cancer insurance coverage available to eligible retirees by legislation passed in 2025. The law, effective in January of this year made 5,000 retired firefighters, police officers and corrections/detention/probation/surveillance immediately eligible for additional coverage and more become eligible every month. Less than 400 have taken up on the offer. Retirees not sure of their coverage status or eligibility for additional coverage can contact PSPRS. Today we recognize the first anniversary of the Dragon Bravo Fire on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It burned more than 145,000 acres, more than 100 dwellings/structures and took one life. The fire burned until September and became the seventh largest wildfire in Arizona history. Firefighters and agencies across Arizona and neighboring states worked together to fight this fire.
