Today marked an exciting milestone for Pittsburgh’s East Liberty community with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated home of 8 Engine & Truck, Battalion 3, and Pittsburgh Police Zone 5.

The entire building was rehabilitated from the ground up, bringing the facility up to today’s safety standards while providing modern, functional, along with better working conditions for the firefighters and police officers who serve from this location.

For the members of 8 Engine & Truck and Battalion 3, this renovation means more than just a new looking firehouse. It provides our firefighters with an improved facility where they can live, train, maintain equipment, and prepare to respond around the clock. With its central location in East Liberty, this station plays an important role in protecting residents, businesses, and visitors throughout East Liberty and the surrounding neighborhoods.

The firefighters who call this station home are excited to see all of the improvements and move back in to continue serving the community from a station they can be proud of.

A project of this size takes a tremendous amount of cooperation, planning, coordination, and hard work. We are glad to see the finished product and the investment being made in the men and women who serve Pittsburgh every day.

Thank you to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Chief Mat Davis, Director Sheldon Williams, Mayor Corey O'Connor, and everyone else who played a role in making this project a reality.

Congratulations to 8 Engine & Truck, Battalion 3, and Police Zone 5 on your newly renovated home!
