Starting Tuesday, May 26, 2026, for approximately four weeks, crews from the Water Department will be replacing the water mainline on E Putnam Street between 2nd and 4th Avenues. Work hours are 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. During the project, access to the construction area will be restricted, and sections of the street may be closed while workers are digging. Every effort will be made to provide local access when possible. Restricted parking will be in place during construction. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays in these areas.

The City of Pocatello is continuing construction on the Portneuf River Bridge on West Benton Street, which began in mid-April. This project includes the removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new structure designed to improve safety and increase load capacity. In addition to bridge replacement, the project includes reconstruction of roadway approaches, coordination and relocation of select utilities, and other related improvements. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of September, weather and other unforeseen conditions permitting. Please be advised that a temporary road closure will be necessary to facilitate completion of the bridge replacement. West Benton Street will be closed between South Hayes Avenue and South Grant Avenue. We encourage all travelers to exercise caution and consider utilizing alternate routes in the area. The Monarch Building, a historic brick structure at 244 W Center Street in Pocatello’s Downtown Historic District, is set to be demolished this summer after more than a decade of decay and failed restoration attempts. Closure of Center Street between Main Street and Union Pacific Avenue, and Union Pacific Avenue between Clark Street and Center Street for construction staging and access to demolish the building will begin on June 1, 2026, with an anticipated completion date of August 15, 2026. PORTNEUF RIVER BRIDGE PROJECT – WEST BENTON STREET
The City of Pocatello is continuing construction on the Portneuf River Bridge on West Benton Street, which began in mid-April. This project includes the removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new structure designed to improve safety and increase load capacity. In addition to bridge replacement, the project includes reconstruction of roadway approaches, coordination and relocation of select utilities, and other related improvements. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of September, weather and other unforeseen conditions permitting. Please be advised that a temporary road closure will be necessary to facilitate completion of the bridge replacement. West Benton Street will be closed between South Hayes Avenue and South Grant Avenue. We encourage all travelers to exercise caution and consider utilizing alternate routes in the area. Closure of Center Street between Main Street and Union Pacific Avenue, and Union Pacific Avenue between Clark Street and Center Street for construction staging and access to demolish the building will begin on June 1, 2026 with an anticipated completion date of August 15, 2026. SWEEPING
Street sweepers are currently performing their regular sweeping schedule.

PATCHING
The Street Services crew will be actively patching potholes and curb lines throughout the City; the work may result in intermittent lane closures and delays. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution.

 WATER DEPARTMENT
WATER MAINLINE REPLACEMENT – EAST PUTNAM STREET
Starting Tuesday, May 26, 2026, for approximately four weeks, crews from the Water Department will be replacing the water mainline on E Putnam Street between 2nd and 4th Avenues. Work hours are 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. During the project, access to the construction area will be restricted, and sections of the street may be closed while workers are digging. Every effort will be made to provide local access when possible. Restricted parking will be in place during construction. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays in these areas.

SEWER MAINLINE MAINTENANCE
Crews will be jetting and cleaning sewer mainlines throughout the City. Motorists may experience delays or lane closures while crews are performing the work.

Platinum Plumbing will close Highland Blvd, from Hillcrest Drive to Mountain Drive to through traffic on May 27, 2026, between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM for a sewer line replacement. Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
