We provide nutritious food through innovative distribution programs and our Pantry Market. We offer nutrition education and recipes for healthy living. In addition, we collaborate with community partners to address the root causes of hunger.

Mark your calendars! Gather will host a Fresh Food Bus market at 124 Heritage Ave. in Portsmouth on the last Saturday of June (June 27) from 9am-12pm! 🚍💚

If it’s hard for you to make it to one of Gather's markets during our regular, weekday hours, this Fresh Food Bus market on June 27 is a great opportunity to shop on a weekend! You’ll find fresh produce, dairy, meats, and pantry staples, and you can hop on the bus and walk through, shopping as you go.

*Please note: This market will count as a weekly mobile market shop for the week of June 22 - June 27. It will not impact members’ monthly shop at Gather’s Pantry market but please note that our Pantry Market will not be open for shopping during this time.

Our Fresh Start Culinary Workforce Training students recently had the opportunity to learn from vegan chef Mimi Loureiro, owner of XOLO Kitchen, during a week-long deep dive into plant-based cuisine.

Mimi guided students through a comprehensive hands-on curriculum covering plant-based cooking fundamentals, food allergies and dietary restrictions, nutrition, kitchen techniques, and more. Students wrapped up the week by putting their new skills into practice, preparing a variety of delicious dishes, including black bean burgers, cashew cheese sauce, chickpea & radicchio salad, kale soup, and vegan chocolate chip cookies.

Experiences like this help equip Fresh Start students with practical skills, confidence, and exposure to a wide range of culinary techniques as they prepare for careers in the food service industry.

We’re so grateful to Mimi for sharing her time, talent, and expertise with our students.

What’s Gather’s program?

The Meals 4 Kids program operates during school vacations when children may not have access to school meals. The team will provide families with additional proteins, milk, eggs, and other foods that kids can make easy meals with such as peanut butter, jelly, tuna, mac & cheese, and more.

To participate in the Meals 4 Kids Program, Gather Members can come to the designated M4K Mobile Market location during the scheduled time, and our team will be there to welcome you.

Gather grown! 🌱 Our gardens are already producing an incredible harvest of fresh produce!

Last week, our Gardening and Gleaning Associate, Allie, and intern, Molly, brought in some gorgeous greens and broccoli rabe harvested from the Gather-managed gardens at The Chase Home (with a cameo from our Assistant Pantry Manager, Andrew!). These gardens are one of the many ways Gather is working to improve access to fresh, nourishing food for our neighbors across the Seacoast.

From our Pantry Market and Mobile Markets to our gardening and gleaning efforts, every harvest helps connect our community with healthy food at no cost — supporting both immediate needs and long-term food security.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
