May the 4th Be With YOU! Happy Star Wars Day! If you're looking to celebrate or just geek out, we've got you covered. Feel free to give your local library a call to set up a curbside appointment to check out all the fun Star Wars books and movies that are available :)

Here are three ways to celebrate Star Wars Day:

⭐ Organize a watch party with friends and family.
⭐ Expand your understanding of the galaxy with a Star Wars book.
⭐ Play “Name that Star Wars Tune” with fellow fans by playing a snippet of a track to see who can remember which film the song is from – you might’ve heard a few of these songs played by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra at Chrysler Hall.

We’ve pulled all the books, films, and music you’ll need to get started at SevenVenues.com/SVCCStarWars, and May the Fourth be with you.

Some time ago, I read on the Portsmouth Library FB page that the AARP tax assistance will not be available at the Churchland Library this year because of COVID-19. Does anyone know if this assistance will be offered by AARP this year anywhere in the Portsmouth area?
The Portsmouth writer's group that used to meet in Churchand is welcome to join the Suffolk VA writers. (Private message me so I can get you on that Zoom.) Suffolk has been wonderful in giving us a Zoom room so we can all meet online. It's not the same as meeting in person but just being with friends and the creative juices is always uplifting. We critique and talk about publishing . We have everyone from poets to romance writers. It's fun. But the other great aspect of meeting online is that several of my friends have joined us. Such as Jill James f(NV) from the Authors of Main Street. Author, Thomas Black will be joining us (GA) and several others who don't live around here. Our next meeting is Sept. 1. Hope to see you there. Lockdown does have its advantages!
Dr. Johnson is preserving the legacy of both WWHS & Manor. He is donating both schools’ yearbooks (dating back to 1923) to VA Yearbook Project & the library’s history room. Mr. Neal is accepting his generous donation. Manor ‘s Yearbooks will be scanned and returned to WWHS archives. The WWHS yearbooks are duplicates and will be scanned then cataloged in the library’s history room for all to see. Thank you Dr. Johnson for having the vision and goal to preserve both schools’ history.
