It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to former Princeton Police Officer and Chief Bennie Coomer.

Bennie dedicated an incredible 50 years of service to the Princeton Police Department. He was sworn in back in 1956, beginning a career of service and commitment to our community that spanned five decades.

In 2002, Bennie was recognized as the longest serving active police officer in the state of Indiana. December 14, 2002, was officially declared Bennie Coomer Day in recognition of his remarkable career and dedication.

We were fortunate enough to see Bennie at the end of last year at the retirees’ lunch. It was great to spend time with him and hear some of the stories from his years of service.

Bennie, thank you for your service, your dedication, and the legacy you leave behind. You will be greatly missed by your police family and the Princeton community.

Rest easy, Chief.

We are proud of Officer Neftali Padilla and Capt Craig Zurliene for their actions and life saving measures during this call. We are proud of all first responders involved that day and everyday that help our community.

Today, Gibson County Ambulance Service is proud to recognize Officer Padilla for receiving the American Heart Association's Lifesaver HERO Award.
Officer Padilla's immediate recognition of cardiac arrest and quick initiation of CPR gave the patient the best possible chance of survival. His actions, combined with the outstanding care provided by the responding Gibson County Ambulance Service EMS crew, led to an incredible outcome—the patient returned home with no neurological deficits.
This is a powerful reminder that survival from cardiac arrest takes teamwork, training, and rapid action. We are incredibly proud of Officer Padilla and our EMS professionals for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to serving our community every day.
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you to everyone involved for making a lifesaving difference. This is the first of many awards to be handed out.

Gibson County Ambulance Service is now proudly apart of the CARES program to track cardiac arrest success stories for teams to be shown appreciation when an actual cardiac arrest victim is saved and comes home!!!
