🐾 Happy National Police K-9 Day! 🐾
Today we’re celebrating a very special member of the Providence Police Department — K-9 Busco!
Now 3 years old, Busco is a Labrador trained in electronics detection and the first electronic detection K-9 in PPD history — and only the second in Rhode Island.
Partnered with Detective Mitchell Guerra, Busco can locate hidden electronic devices, including cell phones, tracking devices and other equipment that can be critical to an investigation.
Originally trained as a service dog in Indiana, Busco had a career change and found his way to Providence. His training and placement, valued at approximately $20,000, were fully funded by the U.S. Secret Service, and he can also assist with dignitary protection when needed.
We’re proud to have this one-of-a-kind K-9 as part of our PPD family. And yes, in case you were wondering, he is a very GOOD BOY!
