With the annual Sturgis Rally starting this week, the Colorado Department of Transportation is revving up motorcycle safety messaging. In 2025, there were 149 motorcycle fatalities on Colorado roads, a 9.6% decrease from 2024. Of these riders lost, 66 (44%) were not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Motorcycle fatalities accounted for over a fifth (21%) of all traffic deaths in the state last year.
CDOT has created a toolkit for its partners, focusing on raising awareness about the importance of safety among both motorcyclists and vehicle drivers. Linked below, you’ll find social media posts, graphics, newsletter blurbs and other resources to promote a culture of safety on our roads. As important stakeholders in the safety of our Colorado roadways, we hope you will use the materials to help raise awareness about motorcycle safety.
