Today, the members of the Clinton Heights Fire Department pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation and our freedoms.
We remember the fallen. We give thanks for their courage, their service, and the liberties we enjoy because of them. Their legacy lives on in every parade, every backyard barbecue, and every quiet moment of peace we are blessed to have in our community.
As firefighters and first responders, we understand the call to serve something greater than ourselves. Many of our own members are veterans or have family who answered that call. Today, we stand in gratitude alongside all who wear the uniform — past and present.
To our veterans, active duty service members, and their families: thank you. We will never forget.
Please stay safe today. Remember to grill responsibly, watch children around water, and have a fire extinguisher ready. If you need us, we’re always here.

Today we celebrate the incredible mothers who make our community strong. Whether you’re a mom who’s also one of our own on the job, a wife or partner holding down the home front while we’re out on calls, or a mom who raised one of our firefighters — thank you.

You’re the true first responders: the ones who kiss scraped knees at 2 a.m., calm fears during thunderstorms, and somehow keep everything running when the world feels like it’s on fire. Your strength, love, and sacrifice don’t go unnoticed.

To every mom out there — may your day be filled with love, laughter, and zero emergency calls. You deserve the rest!
From your brothers and sisters at the firehouse — we appreciate you more than words can say.
Happy Mother’s Day!

New York State Burn Ban Reminder

Each year, New York State implements a residential brush burning ban from March 16 through May 14 to reduce the risk of wildfires during the early spring season. During this time, dry leaves, grass, and brush can ignite easily and fires can spread quickly.

The burn ban prohibits the burning of brush, limbs, and other yard debris statewide. Even small fires can quickly get out of control due to dry conditions and wind.

Allowed during the ban:
• Small campfires or cooking fires
• Ceremonial fires
• Fires that are 3 feet high or less and 4 feet long/wide used for cooking or warmth

Not allowed during the ban:
• Burning leaves, brush, or yard debris
• Large open fires used for cleanup

Violating the burn ban can result in fines and liability if a fire spreads.

The goal of the ban is simple: prevent wildfires, protect property, and keep firefighters safe during one of the highest-risk times of the year.

For more information, visit the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) website.

🔥 If you see an unattended or spreading fire, report it immediately.
