On Saturday April 25th, the Annual Southern MD Firemen's Association Convention memorial, banquet, and awards ceremony was held at Solomons Volunteer Fire Dept & Rescue Squad. President Brian Evans, Chief Christy Ridgell, & Safety Officer Jessica Snyder represented Ridge VRS to participate in honoring those firefighters & EMS providers in the tri-county area in 2025, and attending the Installation of Officers and awards. During the awards, President Evans & Chief Ridgell were inducted into the SMVFA Hall of Fame. A honor bestowed on members who have been active, served various committees, participated in SMVFA and have held leadership positions.
Brian Evans has been an active member in the Fire/Rescue Service in St. Mary's County for over 20 years as both a firefighter and EMS provider, and currently holds the office of President with Ridge VRS, as well as serving on various committees to include St Mary's County Volunteer Association Quality Assurance & IT.
Christy Ridgell has been an active member for 25 years in Ridge VRS and currently holds the position of Chief. She has served on many committees and held officer positions on both the Administrative and Operations side of the Rescue Squad. Christy has deep roots in the Volunteer service as her father is a Volunteer firefighter in Ridge VFD and is Past President of the SMVFA. Her brother is a Volunteer Firefighter in Ridge VFD as well and was also inducted into the Hall of Fame yesterday.
Both members are dedicated to their community and work hard to advocate and be a positive support in keeping the Squad's best interest in mind with making decisions affecting the ever changing Volunteer service.
Congratulations and so very well deserved to you both!!
Congratulations also to the Outgoing & Incoming Officers of the SMVFA!!
