ABOUT US

The Department of Public Safety serves an active community of over 45,000 students, faculty and staff. Each year, we receive more than 300,000 calls for service - an average of over 800 a day. Our officers provide services to more than 75,000 of these callers and file approximately 8,000 incident reports a year. The Public Safety Department is made up of 143 employees. Public Safety patrol University properties - including the River Campus, Medical Center, South Campus, Eastman School and other University owned property - 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to responding to emergencies - fires, accidents, and physical crimes - Public Safety staff provide a wide range of non-emergency services.

Bright and early on September 10, University of Rochester Department of Public Safety Officers joined the NROTC for their annual 9/11 Memorial Run.

We were honored to take part in this meaningful event as we remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, service members, and countless others who answered the call that day.

Thank you to the Rochester Naval ROTC for inviting DPS to be part of this important remembrance. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
