On June 10, 2026, the Monroe County Senior Citizen's Academy met with our Special Operations team to learn about the specialized services we provide to help keep our community safe.

Seniors received demonstrations from our K9 unit, Underwater Search and Recovery Team (USRT), Hazardous Devices Squad (HDS), Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), Mounted Patrol, Strategic Traffic Accident Reduction Unit (STAR), Hostage Negotiations Team (HNT), Drone Response Team (DRT), and our Mobile Command Post vehicle.

Programs like the Senior Citizen’s Academy help strengthen the connection between law enforcement and the community by providing a behind-the-scenes look at the training, teamwork, and resources dedicated to public safety every day. We appreciate the opportunity to engage with our Town of Perinton, New York senior community members and remain committed to building trust, transparency, and partnerships that help keep Monroe County safe for everyone.

I want to thank Legislator Yudelson for following a process that was established years ago. A process that helps government run efficiently and productively toward common goals and working with twenty-nine (29) legislators.

On several occasions, we have asked that legislative questions in letters and email requests be routed through caucus leadership. This is not to avoid questions. Quite the opposite. It is to ensure that questions are handled in an orderly, accurate, and professional manner, and that all legislators have access to the same information.

We have met with legislators from both sides of the aisle, provided direct contact information, and made clear that we welcome professional calls and good-faith questions.

We have also been clear that while individuals may not always agree with the answers provided, they are certainly free to share their opinions with the community or raise their concerns on the legislative floor. That is part of the public process.

What does not work is a process where one legislator for years, repeatedly makes accusations, posts innuendo on social media, issues public statements before facts, and then follows those statements with letters demanding answers. That is not a productive way to conduct government business.

Let me be clear - we have not and will not participate in an environment where public comments have included strained assumptions, inaccurate connections, derogatory remarks, and false allegations of legal violations.

As we have said: “Freedom of speech matters. So does decorum. So does process.”
