How Do We Close Montgomery County’s $189 MILLION Budget Gap, without raising your taxes?

For years, Montgomery County’s political leadership has failed to address runaway spending. Instead, they continue offering the same tired solutions: higher property taxes, higher income taxes, and draining reserves, while ignoring the structural spending problems at the core of the crisis.

In just eight years, County spending has exploded by 44%.
Now, during an election season, the County Executive has proposed an unrealistic budget and expects the County Council to “fix” it.

Meanwhile:
• Marc Elrich wants a 6.3¢ property tax hike PLUS an income tax increase
• Natali Fani-González rejects the property tax hike but supports progressive income tax increases and deeper MCPS cuts.
• Will Jawando wants targeted tax hikes and reserve raids that could threaten the County’s bond rating and drive businesses and high earners out of Montgomery County

Montgomery County families are already stretched thin. Taxpayers should not be forced to pay for years of fiscal mismanagement.

The Montgomery County Republican Party offers a different path:
• NO tax increases
• FULL funding for police, fire/EMS, roads, and trash services
• PROTECT County reserves and bond ratings
• $120M+ in efficiency savings by cutting non-core spending
• Greater accountability and reform within MCPS spending

We believe Montgomery County can balance its budget responsibly without putting more burden on working families, seniors, and small businesses.

Election year is here, and suddenly the “Political Class” candidates want you to believe they care about lowering taxes. Don’t fall for it.

For EIGHT YEARS, these incumbents have been in office while County spending exploded by 44%. Not once did they seriously reduce taxes. Not once did they rein in spending. Instead, they kept growing government and sending taxpayers the bill.

Now they’re campaigning as “anti-tax”? Please.

The incumbents and understudy calf candidates are nothing more than extensions of the same political machine that created this mess. They follow the same mentors, push the same failed policies, and offer nothing new except recycled campaign slogans.

And where is YOUR money going?

• County debt payments now exceed $440 MILLION, making debt one of the largest expenses in the budget. Yet politicians like Will Jawando want to borrow even MORE.

• One of the largest spending categories is literally labeled “Not Defined.” Taxpayers are expected to fund massive spending with no clear explanation.

• Another huge category is called “Miscellaneous Operating Expenses” because apparently wasting taxpayer money needs its own special category.

This is exactly what happens when career “Political Class” politicians believe taxpayers are an unlimited ATM.

The truth is simple: if they wouldn’t cut spending over the last eight years, they won’t do it after Election Day either.

Montgomery County taxpayers deserve leaders who will:
✔ Cut wasteful spending
✔ Stop reckless borrowing
✔ Demand transparency
✔ Actually LOWER taxes

Enough excuses. Enough political games. Enough of the Political Class.

It’s time to elect representatives who work for taxpayers, not the political establishment.

We have prepared this detailed analysis to show homeowners, commercial property owners, multi-family landlords—and by extension their tenants—what the "Wizards of Rockville" have cooked up now!

The tax math and language these officials use is obtuse at best. But YOU know when you get stuck with a huge tax hike, compounded with ever-increasing assessments by Maryland's State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) that are just jaw-dropping.

Not to be outdone by what they caused in 2023 by raising tax rates, recording fees, and mortgage fees—County Executive Marc Elrich, "Senator" Will Jawando, and Council Members Kristin "Fix My Flat Tire" Mink, Natalie Fani-Gonzalez, "Takoma Kate" Stewart, Laurie-Anne Sayles, and Sidney Katz are back at it in 2026, pushing massive tax increases due this September.

Elrich, Jawando, and the Council majority refuse to do their jobs to balance the County and School budgets without punishing taxpayers.

It's time to clean house...

County Executive Marc Elrich and County Exectutive candidate Will Jawando want to raise property taxes, again, by 6%, which is more than double the 2.4% local rate of inflation.

He says this for the schools. However, the additional revenue gets swept into the general fund for the County Council to use as they please.

Also, what happened to the last 5% increase?

Before you vote, know the candidates that want to raise your taxes, AGAIN!!!

If they are not listening to you now, during election season, they surely will not listen to you when they are in office.
