Today we had our 8th Grade Transition Day where our incoming freshmen get to spend a day at MVHS and learn what it means to be a Falcon! We were incredibly impressed with how respectful, attentive and engaged they were throughout the day. They made a great first impression and we are excited to have them join us in the Fall!

Incredibly proud of the work that our JMG students accomplish under the guidance and leadership of Mr. Thornton! We are lucky to have this program and we want to congratulate Mr. Thornton on this achievement!

Meet Larry Thornton, JMG High School Specialist at Valley High School and a member of the 2026 Unum Starting 9 ⚾

Larry is known throughout the Rumford community for his dedication to students and his ability to connect young people with opportunities that help them grow and succeed. From organizing mock interviews and community service projects to engaging students in local initiatives, Larry consistently goes above and beyond for his program and community.

In addition to supporting students, Larry has contributed to statewide JMG initiatives, pilot programs, and leadership efforts that help keep the organization connected to the needs of schools and communities across Maine.

Thank you to Unum for its support of our students and employees and for helping celebrate the incredible work happening throughout JMG!
