🏊🏽‍♀️ Swimming is one of those skills kids carry with them long after summer ends.

It starts small: learning to listen near the water, practicing a safe entry, getting comfortable putting their face in, trying again after a nervous moment. Then, little by little, confidence builds up.

That is the heart of the World’s Largest Swim Lesson. It is not about being the fastest swimmer in the pool. It’s about helping children and families understand why water safety matters and giving them a place to learn in a fun, encouraging way.

This year’s lesson happens during the Southgate Safety Day event, so families can also enjoy safety booths, presentations, games, and activities while cooling off at the pool.

📍 Christine Thompson Aquatic Center

📅 Thursday, June 25 | 4:30–8 p.m.

🎟️ Free event | Pre-registration required for WLSL

🍓🍓 The strawberries may be the reason people stop by, but the impact goes much further!

The Florin Historical Society Strawberry Festival helps raise money for the Society Scholarship Fund, supporting deserving high school students in the District who maintain high GPAs.

Five Florin High School graduates will be receiving scholarships from the Florin Historical Society scholarship fund, Nancy O’Flaherty Family scholarship fund, Newman Family scholarship fund, and Judette Kara Rippetoe scholarship fund.

The festival begins at 11am, while the ceremony begins at 12pm.

This is what 70 Years in Motion can look like outside of a park or pool: a community tradition that honors local history while investing in the students who will help shape what comes next!

🍓🍓🍓 Some events feel like they belong exactly where they are.

The 2026 Strawberry Festival, hosted by the Florin Historical Society, is one of those days featuring fresh strawberries, local vendors, family activities, raffles, and neighbors coming together for a tradition rooted in Florin community pride.

It is simple in the best ways: come out, walk around, bring the family, eat some strawberries, support local history, and enjoy a summer afternoon close to home!

As Southgate celebrates 70 Years in Motion, this festival reminds us that community keeps moving through the traditions people continue to support, year after year.
