Techbridge Girls (TBG) is a unique provider of gender-responsive and culturally-relevant immersive after-school science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and social-emotional (SEL) programming for elementary and middle school-aged girls* and gender-expansive youth. Techbridge Girls is reimagining the way STEM is taught to center the brilliance and potential of Black, Indigenous, and Latina girls and gender-expansive youth. We believe that with these girls’ experiences, values, interests, voices, and brilliance, we can fully experience the possibilities of what a STEM revolution can do for our world.

What if the key to expanding STEM access is already at the heart of the community?

New findings from Afterschool Alliance ’s America After 3PM report highlight significant gaps in afterschool STEM access for rural families. In many rural communities, public libraries are already trusted, free spaces for young people. What they may not have is the STEM curriculum, training and equipment to offer robust programming.

That’s why Techbridge Girls is partnering with Partners Library Action Network (PLAN). Over the next two years, we’ll work with libraries in PLAN’s network to provide hands-on STEM kits and curriculum, while training and supporting librarians to bring meaningful STEM learning to 6th–8th grade students in their communities. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services .
