Backman Entrepreneurial Artisan Program is in full swing. Kids are learning arts and crafts, as well as the business side of being an artist. They will be creating through the summer in order to sell their art at the Craft Lake City D.I.Y. Festival in August. Money goes to buying the students their own art supplies. Thank you to our community partner for supporting our students and making this experience possible.

Congratulations to Hollie Fernandez!  She was nominated and won an award for being an amazing para here at Backman!  She received several items from Western Governors University, including a certificate, flowers, gift card and some swag. 

Congratulations to Topanga Patterson, Maria Bahena, and Shawna Azbill who were also nominated and received a certificate and some swag! We love and appreciate our paraprofessionals!

Attendance is a priority at Backman. Classes celebrate 95% attendance in the class or greater each week with a cup of hot chocolate. We also give kids monthly and weekly prizes to kids, along with the opportunity for families to win gift cards. Good attendance is one of the greatest indicators of future academic success. Thank you to all families who are working hard to get kids to school.

Backman Lions, our wonderful PTA had put up our Dia de los Mu***os ofrenda (altar). Dia de los Mu***os begins Nov. 1. It is a special holiday that began in Mexico to honor the dead. The belief is the spirits may return to earth to spend the holiday with their loved ones. If you would like to add a picture of a departed loved one to add to the ofrenda please feel free to do so. It is a wonderful way to honor lost loved ones.
