Brighton Center

Brighton Center At Brighton Center, we embrace children's unique potential through specialized therapy, inclusive education, and family partnerships.

We don't just see what children can do today—we help them discover all they can become tomorrow. At Brighton Center, we don't just see children—we see their boundless potential. For over 50 years, we've been lighting the path to brighter futures for San Antonio families, celebrating every milestone and embracing every child's unique journey. What makes our hearts beat faster? Seeing a child discov

er they can succeed! That's why our approach is fundamentally different—we focus on abilities, not limitations. Every day, we witness the transformative power of "yes you can" in the eyes of nearly 4,000 children across Bexar County. Brighton Center isn't just a place—it's a community where hope and possibility flourish. Our family of almost 200 passionate specialists—therapists, educators, and advocates—share an unwavering belief: every child can shine with the right support at the right time. We walk alongside families, transforming challenges into stepping stones for growth. Parents become their child's strongest champion, equipped with tools, knowledge, and a network of support that extends far beyond our walls. Together, we're creating a world where children aren't defined by diagnoses but celebrated for their unique gifts. After all, that's the Brighton difference—here, there are only abilities.

Last week, we welcomed community members to Brighton Center for a special behind-the-scenes look at the impact made possible through our programs.

Attendees heard directly from parents who shared their family's journey and the meaningful difference Brighton has made in their child's growth and development. Their stories brought to life the power of early intervention, inclusion, and family-centered support.

We wrapped up the morning by reflecting on two simple but powerful questions: What did you hear? and What did you feel? The conversation inspired deeper connections to Brighton's mission and the families we serve.

"I feel hope. The work you all (Brighton Center) are doing is beautiful and helps to drive the work I do. I'm excited for all the ways you all are growing and am eager to continue to work together" - Attendee of the Event

Because of these community members more children are reaching their development!

Special education comes with a lot of new terms and acronyms. IEP. ARD. IDEA. ECSE. If you've ever felt overwhelmed trying to understand it all, you're not alone.

Brighton's Special Education Library was created to help families access information, build confidence, and make informed decisions for their children. Explore our library today: https://brightonsa.org/special-education-library/

More than 40,000 children in Bexar County have a disability—that's nearly the entire capacity of the Alamodome. And only 36% of children in special education in Texas will graduate with a diploma. The stakes are high, and Brighton Center has been showing up for San Antonio's families since 1969.

We serve more than 4,000 children and families every single year, providing seamless support from birth to age 6—the most critical years of development. From pediatric therapy to inclusive preschools and special education advocacy, we help children build the foundation they need to succeed.

When we help a child learn to communicate, the entire family connects and strengthens. When we prepare a child for kindergarten, the entire classroom benefits.

Every dollar invested in Brighton Center services saves $7 in future educational costs. When you support Brighton, you're not just making a donation. You're investing in the future of San Antonio itself.

A simple way to think about it:
✔️ A 504 Plan removes barriers.
✔️ An IEP builds skills.

Will my child still qualify for services when they turn three?"

This is the question that keeps parents up at night during the ECI to school transition.

The truth? Not every child who qualified for ECI will qualify for school-based special education. The criteria are different—and understanding why can help you prepare.

ECI serves children with developmental delays or diagnosed conditions. School special education serves children whose disabilities affect their ability to access education.

But here's what many families don't realize: Even if your child doesn't qualify for special education, you still have options—504 plans, private therapy, specialized programs, and more.

Our comprehensive transition guide walks you through the entire process, from the first planning meeting to your child's first day of school. >>https://bit.ly/42o1Ct2

There's something that happens in families navigating Early Childhood Intervention that doesn't get talked about enough—and it's not a challenge. It's a gift.

Siblings of children with autism or developmental differences often grow into some of the most patient, perceptive, and compassionate people. They learn to celebrate progress others might overlook. They notice when someone needs space. They show up—quietly, consistently—without being asked.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because their family chose to navigate their own unique journey together.

If you're raising a child receiving ECI services alongside their brothers and sisters, our latest blog is for you. It covers how to support every child in your household, what siblings are really experiencing, and how Brighton Center walks alongside the whole family—not just one child in it.

Because when families grow through this together, everyone is stronger for it.
