Let’s get together at South Cardiff State Beach to observe and log as many species as we can to celebrate CA Biodiversity Day!🌿

📍Look for us between lifeguard towers 10 and 11, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Bring your smartphone or tablet and learn how to download and use the iNaturalist App. Then go out onto our Living Dune and the Shoreline to observe and snap pictures of all your favorite species. You will be able to come back and add to your species list from September 5-13, 2026.

🥾Bring closed-toed shoes/boots, sun protection, and water. Parking is available on the street or in the paid lot. There is a parking fee of $15 for all day parking.🌊

Join us on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., along with San Diego’s vibrant Latinx and Hispanic community as we get ready for Fiestas Patrias at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park! Help us celebrate Mexico’s fight for independence with a day full of live entertainment and family fun to honor the cultures and traditions of the holiday.

Come early to join us and fellow local organizations in a community parade, kicking off the event right at 11 A.M. We’ll see you there!

Just in time for the 2026/27 school year! Incoming fourth graders can now download our popular FREE state parks pass that allows them and their families to enter 54 state parks at no cost.

The Free Fourth Grade Pass provides unlimited access to parks like Silver Strand State Beach and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

The pass now aligns more closely with the school calendar and is VALID FOR UP TO 13 MONTHS: from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31 of the following year! If you have a newfourth grader in your family, GET THE PASS NOW by visitingreservecalifornia.com/passes/Advancepasses

Join us in celebrating California’s cultural heritage as we get ready for Fiestas Patrias at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park! On Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., we will celebrate Mexico’s fight for independence with a day full of live entertainment and family fun.

As part of our community celebration, visitors can visit Old Town San Diego SHP and participate free traditional hands-on activities! This year's free hands-on activities include cascarones, corn husk dolls, and vaquero games in the plaza.

Join us in celebrating California’s cultural heritage as we get ready for Fiestas Patrias at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., we will celebrate Mexico’s fight for independence with a day full of live entertainment and family fun. 🇲🇽

Save a spot on the grass to watch our kick-off community parade and El Grito at 11 a.m. Stick around to enjoy live entertainment, hands-on art activities, and historic adobe museums. Don’t forget stop by for bilingual story times throughout the event and participate as a judge in the 3rd annual Guac’ Off hosted by the Old Town San Diego Chamber of Commerse!

Celebrate Junior Ranger Legacy Day with us at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park! Were you a Junior Ranger years ago? Last month? Somewhere in between?

Bring your Junior Ranger swag and favorite Junior Ranger memory and show your Junior Ranger pride!

In exchange for sharing your Junior Ranger story, you'll receive a special Legacy Junior Ranger souvenir (while supplies last). Afterward, continue your adventure by completing one of our self-guided Junior Ranger activities around the park.

Keep your eyes on the water this summer…you might spot a shark! 🦈☀️

Torrey Pines’ coastline is home to a variety of shark species, and summertime can bring some incredible wildlife sightings close to shore. From leopard sharks cruising through shallow waters to other species passing through our coastal waters, you never know what you might spot from the beach or bluffs!

Leopard sharks are a familiar sight along San Diego’s coast, often found in shallow bays, estuaries, and nearshore waters. Their distinctive spots and stripes make them one of the easiest sharks to recognize and one of the coolest animals to encounter along our coastline.

If you're visiting Torrey Pines this summer:

This week, Torrey Pines staff found empty cans, water bottles, and other trash tossed into a small canyon along the Beach Trail. 🙁

A friendly reminder that Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve operates a little differently than most State Parks. To help protect this unique ecosystem, please enjoy your meals at the beach picnic tables or in the comfort of your vehicle.

Every piece of trash you pack out helps keep Torrey Pines beautiful for wildlife and future visitors. Thank you for doing your part! 🌿♻️
