Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Jorge Nieto (27) of San Francisco; Michael Pauter (43) of San Mateo; Jhonny Rodriguez Diaz (37) of Redwood City; Romuald Santiago (32) of Daly City; and Reuben Teague (50) of San Francisco have been charged with multiple felony counts in connection to an undercover sting operation involving minors conducted by the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office (SFSO).

Mr. Nieto was arraigned on July 31, 2026 and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations. He is charged with two felony counts of meeting a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(b)) and two misdemeanor counts of arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(a)(1)).

Mr. Pauter was arraigned on July 31, 2026 and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations. He is charged with two felony counts of meeting a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(b)) and two misdemeanor counts of arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(a)(1)).

Mr. Rodriguez Diaz was arraigned on August 3, 2026 and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is charged with one misdemeanor count of arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(a)(1)).

Mr. Santiago was arraigned on August 3, 2026 and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations. He is charged with two felony counts of meeting a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(b)) and two misdemeanor counts of arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(a)(1)).

Mr. Teague was arraigned on August 3, 2026 and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations. He is charged with two felony counts of meeting a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(b)), two misdemeanor counts of arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes (288.4(a)(1)), and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing, delaying of a peace officer or EMT (148(a)(1)).

According to court documents, on July 29 and July 30, 2026, undercover officers from the SFSO and local Bay Area counties, as well as officers from out of state (Florida) and the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center participated in an Internet Crimes Against Children Undercover Chat Operation. The objective of this operation was to identify adult subjects utilizing Internet platforms to exploit and meet with children for s*xual purposes. Using an online platform, undercover officers communicated with individuals interested in meeting with young children for the purpose of s*xual conduct.

Mr. Nieto, Mr. Pauter, Mr. Rodriguez Diaz, Mr. Santiago, and Mr. Teague each separately messaged with the undercover officers and engaged in graphic, s*xual language indicating their intent to engage in s*xual conduct with the children. After messaging, each requested to meet in person. The undercover officers provided the address of a location in San Francisco, where Mr. Nieto, Mr. Pauter, Mr. Santiago, and Mr. Teague each separately showed up and confirmed that they went to that address to see the children. They then walked into the house and were each arrested by San Francisco Sheriff Deputies.

Mr. Nieto, Mr. Pauter, Mr. Santiago, and Mr. Teague are currently in custody. The District Attorney’s Office moved to have them detained pending trial due to the public safety risk they pose. The court granted the motion to detain pending trial without prejudice.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that the Honorable Judge Teresa Caffesee sentenced Lisa Gonzales (55) to a term of 31 years to life in state prison following her conviction for second degree murder by use of a deadly weapon.

“We continue to thank the jury for its service in this case,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The court’s sentence will ensure that Ms. Gonzales is held accountable for this heinous crime. While the victim’s family and friends had to wait far too long for this day to come, we are grateful for their trust in our office and the team on this case to deliver justice.”

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, the victim was reported missing on June 1st, 2018, by friends who had not heard from her for several days and were aware of existing tensions between her and her roommate, Ms. Gonzales. On June 2nd, a concerned citizen went to the police to report that Ms. Gonzales had murdered someone, dismembered the body, and attempted to conceal what she had done by placing the dismembered body in a container in her basement.

When SFPD officers responded to Ms. Gonzales’ apartment and asked her where her roommate was, she replied that her roommate, the victim, had moved to Eureka and that she had helped the victim move out on May 15th. When SFPD subsequently searched Ms. Gonzales’ basement, they found the container with the victim’s body inside. Further crime scene analysis by the SFPD Crime Scene Investigation Team revealed the victim’s blood spatter all over Ms. Gonzales’ bathroom, despite Ms. Gonzales having cleaned it with bleach. An autopsy of the victim later revealed she died as a result of multiple sharp force injuries to her face, head, and chest.

The case against Ms. Gonzales was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Melissa Demetral, with assistance from District Attorney Investigators Doug Keely, Sid Bagon and Gino Guerrero, and paralegals Jessica Diamond and Julio Flores Guzman. Victim Advocate Maria Reynoso worked closely with the victim’s family through the pendency of this case. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Ms. Gonzales based upon the San Francisco Police Department’s Homicide Unit’s comprehensive investigation and assistance.

This month, our Access to Hope high school fellows participated in the Youth Career Academy Mock Trial Showcase, a celebration of the knowledge and experience they’ve gained while exploring careers in the public safety system this summer.

Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that 18 individuals have been charged in connection to an unsanctioned and unpermitted block party in SOMA.

All 18 individuals are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., at the Hall of Justice in Department 17.

All 18 individuals are charged with unlawful assembly (PC 407), failure to disperse at an unlawful assembly (PC 409), and resisting, obstructing, delaying a peace officer (PC 148(a)(1)).

According to San Francisco Police on June 27, 2026, at approximately 10:58 p.m., officers encountered an unsanctioned and unpermitted block party on the 100 block of Kissling Street. Officers gave an order to disperse for the unlawful assembly and also directed the DJ who was performing at the event to vacate the premises. The DJ eventually stopped performing and left. Eventually, the street was cleared of the unlawful assembly.

Within an hour, many of the same people from the earlier gathering reconvened on the unit block of Washburn Street and began a second unsanctioned and unpermitted block party with a crowd of approximately 200 individuals. Officers formulated a plan to stop ​the unlawful assembly and address the continuing offense. During this incident 18 individuals were arrested. Two officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries during this incident. Throughout both locations, anti-police graffiti was observed spray-painted on walls, and makeshift barricades had been erected in an effort to prevent officers from entering the area.

Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Ricky Dawson (65) was charged with murder in connection to a 1992 cold case murder and r**e. Mr. Dawson was extradited from Colorado where he was serving a life sentence in connection to a 1996 s*xual assault murder in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Dawson was arraigned on July 20, 2026, pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied the allegations.

Mr. Dawson is charged with murder (PC 187(a)), with a special circumstance of a prior murder conviction for a 2004 Florida conviction of s*xual assault murder (PC 190.2(a)(2)), a special circumstance allegation of r**e (PC 190.2(a)(17)(C)) and a special circumstance allegation of so**my (PC 190.2(a)(17)(D)).

The District Attorney’s Office moved to have Mr. Dawson detained pending trial without bail due to the public safety risk he poses. The court set no bail, and Mr. Dawson remains in custody. Mr. Dawson’s next court date is July 30, 2026, for the preliminary hearing in this case.

According to court documents, on May 2, 1992, at approximately 6:14 p.m., San Francisco Police Officers responded to Hang Ah Alley and Clay Street near 98 Hang Ah Alley and found an adult female victim lying on the ground inside a utility corridor.

Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that former Sheriff’s Deputy Damon Jones (34), has been charged in connection to a s*xual assault that occurred in San Francisco County Jail #2. The court will schedule Mr. Jones’ arraignment at a later date.

Mr. Jones is charged with engaging in s*xual activity with a confined adult while acting as a peace officer employed in a public detention facility, a felony (PC 289.6(a)(2)). He is also charged with dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, a felony (PC 136.1(b)(1)).

According to court records on September 11, 2025, Mr. Jones approached the victim, a transgender woman, housed in A Pod in County Jail #2, and allegedly told her to go to the gym with him. Video surveillance shows the two of them go down jail hallways and enter the gym alone. Mr. Jones is later seen walking into a bathroom stall with the victim following him inside. Less than two minutes later the victim is seen on the video coming out of the bathroom. She is then seen reaching into her sock and pulling out a plastic bag that she spits into. Mr. Jones is then seen coming out of the bathroom and then return the victim back to A Pod.

Court records state that the victim told investigators that in the bathroom, Mr. Jones told her to perform oral s*x on him, and she did. She said she saved some of his ej*****te fluid in her mouth, which is what she spat into the bag. She gave the bag to her attorney, who took it to a crime lab. SFPD retrieved the evidence from the crime lab and DNA testing came back with a match to Mr. Jones.

According to court records, the victim also told detectives that after the oral copulation, Mr. Jones told her to shut up, that no one would believe her, and not to tell anyone or he “would roll her up to F Pod,” which the victim understood was a threat to transfer her to a unit where she would feel less safe. She said she felt scared and intimidated.

Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that William Ohlson (33), of Reno, Nevada, was charged in connection to the torture and killing of a kitten.

Mr. Ohlson is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., at the Hall of Justice.

Mr. Ohlson is charged with killing, maiming or abusing an animal (PC 597(a)), overdrive, overwork or overload of an animal (PC 597(b)) and resisting, obstructing, delaying a peace officer (PC 148(a)(1)).

According to San Francisco Police and San Francisco Animal Care and Control on July 1, 2026, Mr. Ohlson allegedly entered a bank ATM vestibule on the 1800 block of Market Street around 2 a.m. with a small kitten and proceeded to violently torture the animal to death. Mr. Ohlson allegedly fled the scene with the dead kitten.

On July 14, 2026, officers served a search warrant at a hotel on the 100 block of Fell Street where officers had tracked Mr. Ohlson. Officers were advised by a Real Time Investigations Center (RTIC) Drone as First Responder (DFR) operator that the suspect had fled the room onto the roof of an adjacent room. SFPD officers requested the assistance of the San Francisco Fire Department due to the suspect’s location, and members of the SFFD responded with a truck and ladder to assist SFPD in safely apprehending Mr. Ohlson on the roof.
