“Okay… but what if there’s a war?”
It’s a fair question. And Damien finally asks it.
In Episode 4 of Answer the Call: An Army Medicine Story, the conversation moves beyond scholarships and everyday medicine to something many future Army medical professionals — and their families — may wonder about.
What happens when the Army is called to respond?
Army physicians are medical professionals, but they are also Soldiers. Their role, environment and responsibilities can change based on their specialty, assignment and the needs of the Army.
That can mean caring for Soldiers at home, supporting operational units, working in medical facilities overseas, or providing care in environments far different from a traditional hospital.
The goal of this series isn't to pretend those realities don't exist. It's to ask the questions, understand the commitment and make an informed decision.
