I was proud to deliver remarks at the annual Champions for Change Gala yesterday, hosted by Working Partnerships USA! Congratulations to this year’s champions: the Santa Clara Rapid Response Network (Santa Clara County RRN), Seiu United Service Workers West President David Huerta, and Rep. What a joyful achievement to have my bill, SB 1392 (Leno’s Law) signed by Governor Newsom (Governor Gavin Newsom) in Jay Leno’s Garage (Jay Leno's Garage Car Care)! 🚗

California car culture runs deep — from local clubs and weekend cruises to shows, restorations, and family traditions. Jay Leno’s Law helps keep that culture alive by giving qualifying classic cars from model years 1976 through 1985 a new path forward under state smog rules. I am proud to see it signed!

It was a joy for my District Representative, Zach Contini, to speak on my behalf at the Evergreen Valley High School PTSA “Meet the City Night” today. Thank you to the students and families who came together for this important conversation about the Evergreen community! Having helped bring Evergreen Valley High School to life during my time on the East Side Union High School District school board, it was especially meaningful to have my office represented at today’s event.

Today, the California Professional Firefighters and Peace Officers Research Association of California held a rally to urge Governor Newsom to sign AB 1383, which I coauthored alongside author Assemblymember Tina McKinnor.

Firefighters carry a 14% higher risk of dying of cancer than the general population and are expected to work for significantly longer periods following decades old pension regulations. I stand with them in this fight for just, adequate retirement benefits!
