Today marked the first day of SJFD's Firefighter Recruit Academy 26-02.

26 recruits have officially begun their 20-week journey to become firefighters with the San José Fire Department. Throughout the academy, they'll be challenged physically and mentally as they develop the knowledge, skills, and teamwork needed to serve our great community.

On their first day, recruits were introduced to academy expectations and daily responsibilities, met with Senior Staff, toured the training facility, received their personal protective equipment, learned the presentation of colors, and practiced drill formations. This is just the beginning of a demanding but rewarding journey. Please join us in wishing 26-02 the best of luck!
