Summer Camp 2026 registration is open! ☀️🌿

This summer brings brand new weekly themes across two adventure groups: Explorers (K–2nd) dive into things like Creek Creatures, Forest Fairies & Gnomes, and Wings, Feathers & Flight, while Wayfinders (3rd–5th) take on Shelter Builders, Search & Rescue, and Orienteering & Wayfinding.

Every week, kids earn badges, learn real wilderness skills, and get plenty of time for art and play. Optional before and after care is available, plus Counselor in Training (CIT) opportunities for our older Rangers.

$390 per week · 9:00 AM–2:00 PM · locations across Santa Barbara

We are at a tipping point for this generation. And what we do right now will shape the kind of adults they become. 🌿

Kids today are more overscheduled, more screen-dependent, and less equipped to handle discomfort than any generation before them. That's not their fault. We built this world. Now we have a responsibility to offer them something different.

At Nature Rangers, we give kids direct experience of their own capability. Real wilderness. Real challenges. Real self-regulation tools they carry into the rest of their lives. We are seeing it work. And we want to see it spread.

Did you know earthworms have five hearts? 🪱
That's right, five! And they don't have lungs either, they breathe right through their skin. While they tunnel through soil, they're breaking down leaves and old plants and turning it all into rich nutrients for new growth. Without them, our forests and gardens wouldn't be nearly as healthy.

Nature is full of tiny superheroes, and our Rangers find new ones every week. 🌿

We need $20,000 more to get 50 low-income kids into the wilderness this summer. So I'm leading with the ask. 🌿

You know that feeling when your kid is falling apart and you don't know what to do? Many of the kids we serve feel that every single day, without the resources or options your family might have. A full summer in nature changes that.

Cortisol drops. Nervous systems reset. Kids who came in unable to handle hard things leave knowing they can. That's not a camp story. That's a life skill.

A kid climbs a tree, falls halfway down, climbs it again. No adult told her to. No screen gave her a reward. She just needed to know she could. 🌿

Turns out, that moment is doing more than we realized. A new scoping review of 40 studies found that nature-based risky play builds resilience, emotional regulation, and real confidence in kids across every age group. Not as a side effect. As the actual mechanism.

When children get to take on real challenges in nature, their nervous systems learn how to handle hard things. That skill follows them for life.

There is a quiet crisis happening in Santa Barbara. And honestly, versions of it are playing out in every community across this country. 🌿

1 in 5 kids here lives in poverty. Screens are the most accessible babysitter. And without intervention, these children grow into adults who are more anxious, more reactive, and less equipped not because they're less capable, but because no one gave them the chance to discover what they're made of.
