Our first English language scholars from Perugia are now in Seattle enrolled at University of Washington's International & English Language Program (IELP). Thanks to Rita Cipalla and L'Italo-Americano Newspaper for publishing this terrific story about our cultural exchange:

For 33 years, Seattle has enjoyed a vibrant sister-city partnership with Perugia, the capital city of Umbria. Three decades of friendship have resulted in artist exchanges, lectures, food and wine tastings, and an annual film festival. But perhaps most importantly, they have also led to greater mutu...

Call for Future Board Members: Creating meaningful personal relationships across borders is more important than ever. As a sister city association it is our mission to do so -- and have fun while we make it happen. We are looking to add a few board members to our stellar all-volunteer board team. If you or someone you know have a passion for Italian culture, live in the greater Seattle area, and want to impact to how we connect, collaborate and celebrate with our citizens of Seattle & Perugia, PM or email [email protected].

During a trip aboard Alaska Airlines inaugural direct flight from Seattle to Rome, board member Elisabetta Valentini also had the pleasure of visiting Perugia for a few days. A stroke of good luck was that fellow board member Germán Rodríguez also happened to be in Perugia as well. Together with Lauretta Vagnetti, City of Perugia, Office of International Relations, both had the opportunity to meet with the Perugia Mayor Vittoria Ferdinandi, who assumed office on June 25, 2024. A clinical psychologist and social entrepreneur, Ferdinandi is the first woman to hold the position in the city's history. The two cities are drawing ever closer, thanks to the collaboration of our members in Seattle and Perugia. And, after many years of waiting, direct flights between Seattle and Rome can bring us even closer! Comune di Perugia

Despite the cool, drizzly weather, board member Karen Rosatti and our wonderful volunteers came together for a successful gardening and clean-up party at Piazza Perugia in Seattle’s Madison Park neighborhood.
Grazie mille to everyone who contributed their time and energy, and to the Seattle Parks Department for its partnership and support. Thanks to their hard work, the park is looking beautiful and ready to welcome summer visitors.
Piazza Perugia, located in Julia Lee’s Park at 2701 East Harrison Street, is a special place where we celebrate the friendship between Seattle and Perugia.
Interested in helping with future gardening parties? We'd love to have you join us! For more information, please contact Karen at [email protected].
