This is the freaking truth and they need to just come out and say it. Missouri Republicans have literally controlled Missouri for more than 2 decades and yet they still blame Democrats for all of our problems. Missouri Republicans have been systematically and intentionally screwing up Missouri in order to give tax cuts to rich people. They have destroyed rural healthcare. Our roads and bridges are in terrible shape. Missouri public schools are some of the worst funded in the United States. Missouri Republicans have also repeatedly overruled the votes of the people on abortion, right to work, paid sick leave and minimum wage. How much longer will non-rich Missourians vote for the Missouri Republicans that are clearly not governing for most of us?

🩸 Amendment 5 will bleed Missouri families, seniors, and local businesses dry.

Don't let the promise of "zero income tax" fool you. Eliminating the state income tax creates a massive $8.5 billion hole in Missouri's budget. To fill it, lawmakers will be forced to aggressively shift that burden onto everyday consumers through a massive expansion of the sales tax.

Here is the part they aren't telling you: Amendment 5 removes critical protections and gives politicians a blank check to tax things that have never been taxed before.

If this passes, there are virtually no limits on what can be hit with a new sales tax or how high those rates can go. We are talking about everyday necessities that families and seniors rely on:
❌ Childcare & summer camps
❌ Doctor appointments & prescription medications
❌ Home & auto repairs
❌ Gasoline
❌ Home Sales

Even worse? While the state’s wealthiest residents get a massive tax break, the Missouri Budget Project estimates that 80% of Missourians will see a net tax increase, paying an average of $535 or more every single year.

We can’t afford to let everyday costs skyrocket just to give a tax break to the ultra-wealthy. Let's protect our wallets and our communities.

VOTE NO on Amendment 5 on August 4!

Article 1, Section 1 of the Missouri Constitution makes a profound declaration: “That all political power is vested in and derived from the people; that all government of right originates from the people, is founded upon their will only...”

Amendment 4 on the August ballot is a direct violation of that founding principle. I urge my neighbors to vote NO.

Currently, if a citizen initiative wins a simple majority statewide, it passes. Amendment 4 would dismantle this, requiring a majority in all eight of Missouri’s congressional districts. Under this rule, a single district could veto the will of the rest of the state. It destroys the idea of "one person, one vote" and strips the people of their ultimate authority.

For decades, Missourians have used our citizen initiative process as a crucial check on a legislature that refuses to act. We used it in 1980 to pass the Hancock Amendment to cap local taxes, and again in 2020 to expand healthcare through Medicaid Expansion. This process belongs to every Missourian, regardless of political party.

Politicians placed this measure on a low-turnout August primary ballot, hoping we wouldn't notice their attempt to insulate themselves from accountability. We shouldn't let Jefferson City rig the rules just because they don't like the decisions we make.

Let's protect the true source of political power in our state. Keep government founded upon the will of the people and vote NO on Amendment 4 this August.

Actions speak louder than words, and this past week alone, Rene Vance has been hard at work volunteering across our community to show exactly how she’ll fight for Missouri House District 52:

Monday & Friday: Delivered hot, nutritious meals to our local seniors.

Monday Evening: Provided transportation for a fellow citizen so their voice could be heard at the City Council meeting regarding a vital zoning matter.

Annual United Day of Action: Rolled up her sleeves to pitch in for this massive community-wide volunteer effort.

Senior Citizen Gala Fundraiser: Worked a massive 13.5-hour shift (from 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM!), handling everything from preparation and setup to event roles and late-night cleanup.

Rene doesn't just talk about community—she shows up for it. When elected as your State Representative, she will bring that exact same work ethic, dedication, and heart to the Missouri Capitol.
