Stats for the month of August 2026.
Animals returned - 1 dog (no fault of her own). 2 cats (one the lady is elderly and can no longer care for her, 2nd no fault of her own).
9 dogs and 36 cats transferred in.
13 dogs and 17 cats adopted. And one cat, Chucky, was reunited with his owner after she saw him posted on our page.

Of the 17 animals that came through our doors that were of age to be spayed/neutered this month only 1 dog & 2 cats were spayed/neutered.
Please spay & neuter so we can end this cycle of over pet population! We in shelters & rescues are drowning.
There are programs. If in Harrison County please contact us or visit hshcwv.org/spay , Harrison County WV Animal Control for their voucher program, and Clarksburg Veterinary Hospital for their TNR program with SNIP WV . Doddridge County Humane Society Inc. also has monthly clinics for cat neuters.

Jack is a 5 yr old Pyrenees Lab mix?
He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines.
He is a wonderful dog that has just become too much for the lady to handle due to her age/health.
He has a best friend small dog, but we were told when he meets Huskys he does not like them. SO obviously a meet and greet with any dog would be necessary.
Absolutely no cats - he hates them.
He has not been a working dog - he has been in a home. He loves walks and knows some commands.

Jasper was adopted straight out of animal control. The family unfortunately didn't realize they were not ready for another dog in the home after losing their last pet. So Jasper needs to find a new home.
(We are seeing some of the comments below. We understand their decision. Sometimes we miss having a pet in the home, but may not ultimately be ready. We respect their decision. They haven't failed the dog, and are even offering to foster until a home can be found. It's not easy to lose a pet, and even harder to know when you are ready for another.)

He has one vaccine and scheduled for the rest of the puppy series.

From the adopters. I spoke with someone earlier about Jasper and helping to find him another home. I don’t have Facebook so was hoping I could forward his info here. We have enjoyed our time together as he is a very smart boy and loves to play. I unfortunately did not realize how emotional it would be to have another dog in our home after the loss of our last dog in April this year. He has already learned ‘sit’ and ‘come’ but needs help learning his boundaries outside if at a home with no fence. He is a very curious pup and loves to go on walks. He loves to meet people including kids and shows absolutely no aggression. He also is not aggressive with food or treats. We think he’d love to have another dog companion to play with. Unsure about cats. We would love to sponsor his next adoption and would also like to donate his crate. He has slept very well in his crate the few nights we have had him. We have only had two accidents inside the home that I just believe were due to him ‘marking’ as he could smell where our previous dog had been. This has been challenging as we have a big home and can’t let him out of our sight while inside. We’ve also found that he really loves his Kong toys.

I am extremely ashamed and embarrassed that we haven’t been a good fit as he has so much potential. I really hope that we can find him the best home as he absolutely deserves it.

🚨 FOSTERS NEEDED: Help Cal, Can, & Car Learn to Trust! 🚨

We are looking for hero foster families for three sweet 8-month-old mixed breed pups who had a very rough start to life. They are currently fearful, but they desperately want to trust and love. In a loud shelter environment, it is incredibly hard for timid dogs to decompress. They need a quiet, patient home to show them that the world isn’t a scary place.
We would like separate foster homes for them so they can flourish without the sibling rivalry and potentially learn from well mannered and social adjusted dogs, or just sweet humans for them to trust.
Not only are you helping them to learn how to "dog" but also helping us with space as well by providing an open kennel.

🐾 About the Pups: Names: Cal, Can, and Car
Age: 8 months old
Weight: Around 35 lbs each
Temperament: Fearful but sweet. They just need patience, time, and love to heal.

This fine gentleman is a little camera shy however, he is such a lover. He has many unquie features which include a curly bobtail! He is named after Shrek but we can personal vouch that he does not smell like a swamp.

We have all experienced the bowl cut at one point in our lives. However, I have never seen such a cutie with this haircut! This is Lord Farquaad but, we call him Farquaad for short. He has had a rough start at life. We are currently trying to get him to healthy weight but other than that this guy is all good to go!
