UPDATE: LOCATED! 6/20/26 at 11:28AM Aburabie was located unharmed while still wandering the area and has been reunited with her family.

MISSING PERSON AT RISK - At approximately 12:30 A.M. Officers responded to a hotel on the 200 block of Gateway Boulevard on a report of a missing 77-year-old female, Karimeh Aburabie. Officers contacted the reporting party who stated his mother, Karimeh, who suffers from dementia, walked away from the hotel room while he was asleep. Karimeh was last seen on video surveillance leaving the hotel on foot at approximately 11:50 P.M. on 06/19/2026.

Karimeh is a Middle Eastern Female, approximately 5’6” tall, 140 pounds, with white hair, green eyes. She was last seen wearing a black dress with floral design and a black and white hijab. Several officers responded to the area to canvas for her while utilizing police drones and canine units to conduct a track which were met with negative results. A Silver Alert was activated with CHP and a broadcast was sent to Bay Area Law Enforcement Agencies.

🚁🐕 On April 2, 2026, multiple overnight reports of a suspicious person prowling through residential backyards in the Westborough Park Neighborhood led to an hours-long search involving patrol officers, supervisors, and K-9’s.

Despite extensive searching, the suspect was seen by neighbors jumping over fences and continued to evade officers.

Just after sunrise, a resident reported the individual had been captured on security cameras inside an unoccupied home. Around the same time, a certified DFR pilot/dispatcher came on duty and quickly launched a drone response to the new call. Within minutes, DFR located the suspect and provided a live video feed to officers and supervisors monitoring the incident in real time.

When the suspect fled again, DFR maintained visual contact and provided critical updates that helped officers safely coordinate the response and guide K-9 Moose to the apprehension.

The suspect was ultimately taken into custody and found to be carrying a large concealed fixed-blade knife. Investigation later revealed he had unlawfully entered an unoccupied residence while attempting to avoid capture.

This incident highlights the power of community reporting, officer persistence, real-time drone technology, and the outstanding teamwork between patrol officers and K-9 Moose that helped bring a potentially dangerous situation to a safe conclusion.

🚨 DUI Checkpoint This Friday Night 🚨

Summer is officially getting underway across the Bay Area. With schools and colleges out for break, festivals and celebrations ramping up, and thousands of visitors arriving for FIFA Club World Cup events, we expect more people to be out enjoying everything the weekend has to offer.

To help keep our roads safe, we will be conducting a DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint on Friday, June 12 from 8:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the city.

🍻 Alcohol, cannabis, prescription medications, and some over-the-counter medications can all impair your ability to drive.

🚗 Plan ahead. Use a rideshare, designate a sober driver, call a friend, or stay the night.

Your night should end with memories, not a DUI.

June is Pride Month, and our agency is proud to recognize and celebrate the diversity of the community we serve.

Over the past year, our LGBTQ+ Liaison Program has continued to strengthen relationships, foster communication, and engage with community members through outreach and participation in local events. So far this month, members of our liaison team attended our City Hall’s Pride Flag Raising Ceremony and recently participated in Pacifica's Coast Pride celebration with Pacifica Police Department.

We are also proud to share that the SSFPD LGBTQ+ Liaison Program recently received accreditation from Out to Protect, becoming only the second law enforcement agency in California and seventh in the nation to earn this recognition. Accreditation reflects the department's ongoing commitment to community engagement, trust-building, communication, and long-term program sustainability.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and leadership of Sgt. James Delos Santos, who led the accreditation effort and continues to serve as the department's LGBTQ+ Liaison Program Manager.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we wish everyone a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable month. You may also spot some of our officers wearing pride patches this month as they remain available for purchase in the police department lobby while supplies last. 🌈

🚨Arrests Made Following Attempted Catalytic Converter Theft 🚨

At approximately 1:24 a.m., our officers responded to a report of multiple individuals attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle inside the Miller Parking Garage.

While officers were responding, SSFPD Dispatchers accessed the City's camera system and provided real-time updates on the suspects' movements and vehicle description. When officers attempted to stop the suspects, they fled, leading officers on a vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit was discontinued after the suspects drove the wrong way onto a Highway 101 off-ramp and entered the freeway, creating too high of a risk to public safety.

Rather than forcing a dangerous outcome, officers shifted their focus to coordinated investigative work. Through continued efforts, collaboration with neighboring agencies, and diligent canvassing of the area, officers later located the suspect vehicle in nearby Brisbane with help from Brisbane Police Department, California USA. After searching the surrounding area, officers identified and arrested two primary suspects involved in the attempted theft.

This case is an excellent example of how modern policing combines community reporting, real-time technology, regional partnerships, and disciplined decision-making to safely bring offenders into custody.

We would like to recognize the outstanding work of our dispatchers, patrol officers, and neighboring agency partners whose teamwork contributed to a successful outcome.

🎓 We are proud to announce not one, but three recent graduations from leadership and career development courses! Officer Giovanni Morales and Corporal Alec Goff graduated yesterday from the Inner Perspectives leadership course. Sgt Richard Amador recently graduated from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI). Both programs are rigorous leadership development courses designed to strengthen ethical decision-making, personal growth and supervisory skills for law-enforcement leaders. Both programs run over a span of five months and require a significant amount of time and commitment in addition to their day-to-day duties. This graduation reflects their dedication to personal development, accountability and their commitment to serving the community of South San Francisco with integrity and great leadership skills.
