Through a collaboration with Spokane's Imagine Jazz and a very generous contribution from Hillyard Built, our Rogers Instrumental Music department was able to host a workshop with the renowned Jeremy Pelt Quintet. The group performed to an audience of Rogers Band, Orchestra, Percussion, Jazz Band, Guitar & Piano Lab students, and inspired them with their professional musicianship and personal stories. Students had the opportunity to interact and ask questions of these visiting professional musicians and left inspired to continue on their musical journeys!

VOTER REGISTRATION: There’s still time to register or update your voter registration information online at olvr.votewa.gov. After Oct. 26, new registrations and updates can be made in person at the Spokane County Elections Office.

In Washington, residents who are U.S. citizens and at least 16 years old can sign up as a Future Voter for automatic voter registration when they turn 18. Learn more at sos.wa.gov/futurevoter.

Ballots for the 2026 General Election can be returned at Ballot Drop Boxes outside all Spokane Public Library and Spokane County Library locations until 8 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2026.

The Rogers High School Junior ROTC cadets visited the Spokane International Airport to see a behind the scenes look at the operations and aerospace related jobs.
We were greeted by Alanna Toft, Communication and Marketing Director, and briefed by Ryan Garrison, Airport Operations Manager for Spokane International Airport. They discussed airport operations and all they provide to ensure the safety of all passengers coming into and out of Spokane International Airport. We visited the airport operations tower and the snow removal facility to see the equipment used to keep the runway open during inclement weather. What a great opportunity for our cadets!

Students are filling the HUB, taking advantage of Fall School. This week on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, the HUB is made available to students from 10am - 3pm to work on assignments and get help when needed. Yesterday, we had 75 students drop in and work throughout the available time and make progress on their academic goals! Great work Pirates!

LEVY LEARNING: Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levies are temporary, which is why we run replacement levies. The current 3-year EP&O levy approved by voters expires in 2027; if passed, the SPS replacement levy on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot would be collected in 2028, 2029, and 2030.

This cycle gives voters regular opportunities to review the proposed dollar amounts, estimated tax rate and how the funds are used.

CHAS Health at John R. Rogers High School is offering FREE sports physicals on November 4th & 5th for students needing to prepare for the winter season. Please reach out to Chas directly using the information below to schedule your appointment.

Please also remember to complete your Final Forms registration and upload any updated physicals before the season begins (gymnastics begins 11/9 with all other sports beginning 11/16).

Ballots for Spokane County voters have been mailed. Remember to vote by Nov. 3, 2026.

RETURNING YOUR BALLOT: The General Election is coming up on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. The 18-day voting period has begun in Washington, and ballots have been mailed to registered voters.

There are several ways for Spokane County residents to return their ballots:

• Ballot Drop Box: There’s a ballot box outside every Spokane Public Library branch and Spokane County Library District branch, as well as several other locations across Spokane County. Find a ballot box near you at spokanecounty.org/187/Ballot-Drop-Box-Locations. You can drop it off anytime until 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.

• In Person: The Spokane County Elections 1033 W. Gardner Ave.) is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours – 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. – on Election Day (Nov. 3). Stop by if you need to return a completed ballot, get a replacement ballot or envelope, register to vote, use an Accessible Voting Unit, or have questions about voting. Find details at spokanecounty.org/201/Voter-Service-Center-Locations.

• Mail: Drop your ballot in a mailbox – no stamp required. To be counted, ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3. Please note that US Postal Service recommends returning ballots by mail at least a week before Election Day. If returning your ballot by mail after Oct. 27, it’s recommended that voters take ballots to the counter at their Post Office to ensure it is postmarked by Nov. 3.

After returning your ballot, you can track its journey at voter.votewa.gov.
