The Maryland Heights Fire Protection District covers eighteen square miles of St. The district boundaries are Page Avenue/Lackland Road on the south, McKelvey and Old St. Charles Rock Roads on the north, Marine Avenue on the west and Lindbergh Boulevard on the east. In addition to our district, we have mutual aid agreements with our neighboring districts

and also provide support on various responses throughout the St. The fire district operates two engine houses and four front-line apparatus. Engine House 1 is located at 2600 Schuetz Road and is home to Engine Company 4414 and Ambulance 4417 and Rescue Squad 4416. Engine House 2 is located at 12828 Dorsett Road and is home to Ladder Company 4425 and Ambulance 4427. Support Unit 4499 (foam, trench and shoring materials, hazardous materials response support) is also housed at Engine House 1. In addition the district also maintains Reserve Engine 4490 and Reserve Ambulance 4497 for back-up purposes.

Last night, crews had the opportunity to participate in the Edward Jones YMCA Healthy Kids Day event, where we connected with families from throughout the community.

Attendees had the chance to explore our ladder truck and an ambulance, meet firefighters and paramedics, and learn more about the services we provide. Events like these are a great way to build relationships, answer questions, and promote safety and wellness in our community.

Yesterday afternoon Maryland Heights Fire Protection District Units 4429 (Boat) responded to assist Berkeley MO Fire Department with a vehicle into the water.

Upon arrival, our personnel assisted with both shore and water operations. While some members worked from shore coordinating the incident, others entered the water to help rig the vehicle for removal and assist with searching the vehicle before it was pulled back to shore.

This incident highlights the importance of regional mutual aid and the specialized capabilities our crews bring to water rescue and recovery operations.

Today we recognize Captain Brandon Hogan on his 3 year anniversary with the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District.

Brandon was hired on May 26, 2023, and has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving both the fire district and the community. Brandon currently serves as the Assistant Fire Marshal, helping support fire prevention, inspections, and public safety throughout the district.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Their courage will never be forgotten. We are grateful for those who gave everything to protect the freedoms we enjoy each day.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day and remember those who never made it home.

Yesterday afternoon 4414 was called for an unauthorized burn. This is a good reminder that a 55 gallon metal drum is not considered an approved fire pit. Residents should only use commercially manufactured fire pits and only burn clean, dry firewood.

Burning construction debris, rehab materials, or treated wood releases toxic smoke and harmful chemicals into the air that can impact your health, your neighbors, and the environment. These fires can also spread quickly and create unnecessary hazards for surrounding homes and property.

Before starting any outdoor fire, make sure you know the local regulations and always burn safely and responsibly.

Yesterday, we welcomed community members to Station 2 for a CPR class focused on teaching lifesaving skills that can make a difference when every second counts. Early CPR can greatly improve someone’s chance of survival during a cardiac emergency, and having more people in our community trained and prepared helps make Maryland Heights a safer place for everyone. Thank you to everyone who took the time to learn these important skills with us.

Today is EMS Remembrance Day during EMS Week.

Last day of school done right! Our crews had a great time joining the students and staff at Holy Spirit Catholic School for their end of year foam party celebration. Firefighter/Paramedic Ky gave students a tour of the ambulance, answered questions about EMS, and even joined in on the fun once the foam started flying. We hope everyone has a safe and fun summer break!
