Yesterday, Dr. Adam Pearson, director of the Department of Human Services, joined our nonprofit partners in appearing as guests on NPR's St. Louis on the Air program. Along with Jonathan Belcher of the Continuum of Care St. Louis City and KB Doman of the ArchCity Defenders, Inc., Pearson was asked questions by Elaine Cha concerning unhoused activity in the South Grand area and homeless services resources in the city.

The show touched on several topics, including the challenges of providing outreach, limited shelter capacity, the need for more affordable housing units in the city, and much more. While the show covered serious issues, it also showcased that organizations are willing to maintain open dialogues with one another to find solutions. We welcome community input as well.

Your metro reduced fare card needs to be updated! Metro will be pashing out all Previous Reduced Fare ID cards as a part of the changes to their tickets system. All cards, even if they are not expired, will need to be replaced with an updated card ASAP!

Metro Transit will be on site to take Metro ID pictures and provide travel training.

Yesterday, Dr. Adam Pearson, director of the Department of St. Louis, and Chris Stephan, CEO of the St. Patrick Center, connected with St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Parish Plarn Patrol. This group of volunteers takes plastic bags, which others may consider trash, and turns them into plastic yarn, or "plarn." The plarn is then used to create sleeping mats, soft to the touch, and are donated to the St. Patrick Center to be given to people experiencing homelessness.

Plarn Patrol volunteers showed us how to create plarn by carefully stripping pieces of plastic. We learned how precise and time-consuming the process is, which only speaks to their dedication. We want to take this opportunity to thank the Plarn Patrol for the work they do!
