Burn restrictions are now in effect in Kidder County.
"...Fire Emergency and Burn Restriction (to include a ban and restriction on controlled burns, crop residue burning, fireworks, garbage burning, and campfires) remain in effect when the North Dakota Fire Danger Rating is in the Extreme, Very High, or High and/or a Red Flag Warning has been issued, until further notice for Kidder County, North Dakota. Additionally, burning will be allowed with a Low or Moderate Fire Danger Rating upon approval of the local fire response authority who has jurisdiction over the designated area in Kidder County, North Dakota.
What’s Included
Open Burning: Includes burning of leaves, grass clippings, garbage/pits, construction debris, fallen trees, controlled burns, crop residue or hay land, sloughs, and campfires/bonfires.
What’s Excluded
Controlled Devices: Only when device (gas, charcoal, or wood-fired grills, patio fireplaces and chimneys, gas camp stoves, and smokers) is on a hard, non-organic surface and 15’ away from vegetation and an extinguisher or water is available on site.
THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THIS BURN RESTRICTION IS A CLASS B MISDEMEANOR
(NDCC 37-17.1-10.1: MAXIMUM SENTENCE OF 30 DAYS IN JAIL AND $1,500 FINE).
