💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence can affect people of every background and can happen behind closed doors where others may never see it.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, know that help is available.

If you're concerned about someone's safety, don't ignore the signs. Be supportive, listen without judgment, and encourage them to seek help.

You are not alone.💜

📱🚗 TRAFFIC TIP THURSDAY

Your phone can wait.
Texting, scrolling, changing music, eating, or taking your eyes off the road for even a few seconds can create a dangerous situation.

📵 Put the phone down.
👀 Keep your eyes on the road.
👐 Keep your hands where they belong.
🧠 Keep your attention on driving.

Drive like someone's life depends on it—because it might.

🇺🇸 Today is Columbus Day, a federal holiday observed on the second Monday of October.

For many communities and states, the day is also recognized as Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Whether you're off work, running errands, or simply enjoying a fall Monday, remember to slow down and stay safe on the roads.

Have a safe Monday, Stickney!

🚦 TRAFFIC TIP THURSDAY

👣 Drivers: Watch for pedestrians, especially during the morning and evening hours when visibility may be reduced.

👟 Pedestrians: Use marked crosswalks when available, stay alert, and make sure approaching drivers see you before crossing.

🚗 Remember: getting somewhere a few seconds faster isn't worth putting someone else's safety at risk.

Slow down. Stay alert. Share the road.

🤝 Community Policing Week is October 4–10.

Policing isn't just about responding when something goes wrong. It's also about building relationships, listening to residents, working with local organizations, and finding ways to address problems together.

The strongest communities are built when residents, businesses, organizations, and law enforcement work together.

Thank you, Stickney, for allowing us to serve you. 💙
