๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”This is Felix. His finders gave him his name because theyโ€™ve known him for months.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”
Just a couple of months ago, Felix was a healthy, playful baby, often spotted with his sibling at his findersโ€™ place of work. They watched the two of them play, explore, and learn how to navigate this big world as brand-new little lives.
Today, they saw Felix again.
But this time, he wasnโ€™t playing.
Felix walked right up to them and followed them into the garage. It was as though he knew exactly where he needed to go.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”
Wild animals spend their lives avoiding people. But sometimes, when they are sick, exhausted, and have absolutely nothing left, they do something extraordinaryโ€ฆ
They ask us for help.โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
And thankfully Felix's did.
Because by the time he reached us, he was barely hanging on.๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ญ
His little body is being ravaged by mange. His skin is covered in painful sores. He has developed a terrible upper respiratory infection, likely a secondary bacterial infection resulting from how severely compromised his body has become.
He is so weak that when he tries to stand, his legs simply cannot hold him. He falls over.๐Ÿ˜“
It is heartbreaking to look at him and imagine that only a short time ago, this same little guy was outside running and playing beside his sibling.๐Ÿ’”
Tonight, I sat with Felix and offered him food from a spoon.
And then it happened.
He ate. ๐Ÿฅบ
He allowed me to spoon-feed him๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“.
It may seem like such a tiny thing, but when you are caring for an animal this critically debilitated, you wait for those moments.๐Ÿ’“You search for the smallest sign that somewhere inside that exhausted little body, they are still willing to fight.๐Ÿ’“
That was the moment I had been waiting for.๐Ÿ’“
Felix isn't giving up tonight. And neither are we. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน
His road back will not be quick. He needs medications, treatment for his infection and mange, supportive care, nutritious food, warmth, monitoring, and time possibly a lot of it๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
So tonight, we are asking for your help with Felix's medical care and extended stay with us.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
If you can donate toward his care, no amount is too small. Every few dollars helps us give him another meal, another treatment, another comfortable night, and another opportunity to become that healthy little guy his finders remember.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
And if donating isn't possible, please share Felix's story.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Tonight, a desperately sick little wild animal walked up to humans and trusted them with his life.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Let's show him that he chose the right people. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Come on, Felix.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
You keep eating. We'll keep fighting. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Weโ€™re Putting Out Feelersโ€ฆ Could Our Community Help Us Grow?๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Over the last five years, since Susan and I took over, the number of animals coming through our doors has nearly doubled.๐Ÿคฏ
And with that growth has come a very real problem ...we desperately need more clinic space.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Anybody who has visited our facility knows that although we are incredibly fortunate to have a very large property, our actual indoor clinic space is extremely limited. We are working in tight quarters every single day, trying to safely accommodate an ever-growing number of animals while maintaining proper separation, sanitation and disease-control protocols.
So before we take on a project of this size, we're putting out some feelers.
Would our community support us in creating an additional clinic specifically for our RVS patients ( skunks ,fox ,groundhogs, bats, raccoons, coyotes)
The good news is that we already have the physical spaceโค๏ธ. One of our intern apartments will become vacant in October, giving us an opportunity to completely remodel and transform that space into a dedicated RVS clinic.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Obviously, it isn't as simple as moving a few cages into a room. The space would need to be properly renovated and outfitted with cage banks, appropriate containment, sanitation areas and all of the necessary RVS-specific safety, quarantine and disease-control protocols.
But the difference it could make would be HUGE.๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ
Moving our RVS patients into their own dedicated clinic would free up a tremendous amount of space in our existing clinic and allow us to segregate species much more efficiently๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.
That means better organization, better biosecurity, less congestion and a safer environment for both our animals and the people caring for them๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.
Most importantly, it would give us room to continue growing with the need.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Five years ago, we could never have imagined the number of animals that would eventually come through these doors. Today, we're caring for nearly double that number and the calls aren't slowing down.๐Ÿ’”
We don't want lack of physical clinic space to become the reason we have to say no to an animal we otherwise have the ability to help.
Right now, we aren't officially launching this project. We're asking YOU.
If we moved forward with converting this apartment into a dedicated RVS clinic, would you help us make it happen?
Maybe that means sponsoring a cage. Maybe it's donating toward construction materials, plumbing, cabinetry or equipment. Maybe it's $5 or $10 toward the renovation. Maybe it's simply sharing the project with someone who might want to help.
For now, we simply need to know whether our community would stand behind us.
โค๏ธ If you would support the creation of a dedicated RVS clinic, please leave us a YES in the comments.
We have the space.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
We have the need.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
We have more animals depending on us than ever before.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
We just need the room to keep saying YES. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ’”Meet Raya , Our First Overwintering Baby raccoon of the Season ๐Ÿ’”Weighing in at just under 700 grams๐Ÿฅน( about the weight of 24 ounce water bottle)
At a time of year when our raccoon babies are usually growing up, becoming independent, and preparing for release, little Raya arrived.
Raya was apparently abandoned, with no mother and no siblings anywhere in sight. By the time she made it to us, her tiny body told the story of just how long she had been struggling. She arrived incredibly emaciated and severely dehydrated, far too small and fragile to survive on her own.๐Ÿ’”
It is very unusual for us to receive a raccoon this small this late in the season. Most orphaned raccoon kits require months of specialized rehabilitation before they are ready to return to the wild.
And for Raya, that means one thing
She isn't going anywhere anytime soon. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน
Raya has officially become our first overwintering raccoon of the season. While others her age should be learning beside their mothers and siblings, Raya will spend the coming months with us, gaining weight, growing stronger, receiving proper nutrition and veterinary care, and eventually learning all the skills she will need to be wild.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Overwintering an animal means an extended commitment, months of food, vaccinations, medical care, enrichment, specialized housing, heating through the coldest part of the year, and eventually an appropriate outdoor enclosure.
But when we look at that tiny face, we know she deserves every single day we can give her.๐Ÿ’“
Today, we are fundraising for Raya's care and her very extended stay with us. ๐Ÿฆโค๏ธ
If you can donate toward Raya's journey, even just a few dollars ,you will be helping provide for a little girl who somehow held on long enough to make it through our doors.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
She may have arrived alone.
But Raya doesn't have to fight alone anymore.๐Ÿฉท
Please donate, share, and help us give this tiny girl the chance to grow up, get strong, and someday walk back into the wild where she belongs. ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿพ
Welcome, Raya. We've got you. โค๏ธ

โœจ Itโ€™s all about setting intention. โœจ
When one of our patients leaves for the veterinary hospital, we always set their cage back up and have it waiting for their return. Their blankets are ready. Their bed is waiting. Their space is prepared.
Because we believe in setting the intention that they are coming back. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน
Today, Sunshine and Buddy are headed to the vet, where we are hopeful they will both receive the surgical intervention they need to repair their broken limbs.
Their cages are ready.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Their beds are waiting.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
And now, we wait for them. ๐Ÿฅบโค๏ธ
If everyone could take just a moment today to send Sunshine and Buddy some extra love, light, healing energy, prayers whatever you believe in, we would appreciate it more than you know.โฃ๏ธ
May their surgeries be successful. May their little bodies be strong. And may they both come back through our doors today so we can tuck them safely into the cages already waiting for them. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผโœจ
Come back to us, Sunshine and Buddy. Weโ€™re ready for you. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

โค๏ธ A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO HAMMERHEAD TATTOO! โค๏ธ
We want to give the biggest thank you to the incredible crew at Hammerhead Tattoo for putting together such a phenomenal fundraiser for our wildlife. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿฆ‰
Not only are these artists unbelievably gifted at what they do, but they are also just genuinely good humans. Kind, down-to-earth, compassionate, and refreshingly zero ego ,the kind of people you meet and immediately know their hearts are in the right place.๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“
It was an absolute pleasure giving them a tour of our hospital today and introducing them to some of the lives their generosity is helping us care for. โค๏ธ
Support like this means more to us than people realize. When a local business chooses to use its talent, time, and platform to help wildlife that has no voice of its own, it says so much about the people behind that business.๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ
We are incredibly grateful to have crossed paths with the Hammerhead Tattoo crew, and we are so excited to continue working together in the future.
Talented artists.โฃ๏ธExceptional humans.โฃ๏ธ Huge hearts. โฃ๏ธ
Thank you, Hammerhead Tattoo, for showing up for wildlife and for reminding us how wonderful our community can be. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

๐Ÿ’” MEET BUDDY โ€” THE LITTLE GUY WHO JUST COULDNโ€™T CATCH A BREAK ๐Ÿ’”
Another baby raccoon. Another tiny life that has already learned far too much about how cruel and unforgiving the world can be.๐Ÿ˜ข
This is Buddy. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’”
According to his finder, raccoons frequently visit her yard, and Buddy has always seemed to be the one who gets picked on. The little one pushed around. The one who never seemed to quite fit in. The one who was always on the receiving end.๐Ÿ’”
And this time, he was hurt badly.๐Ÿ’”
Buddy came to us covered in puncture wounds, and unfortunately, we have also discovered a fracture.๐Ÿ˜ช
Tomorrow, Buddy will be heading to Radnor Veterinary Hospital for a full assessment so we can determine exactly what we're dealing with and what will be needed to give this sweet baby the best chance at healing.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
There is something especially heartbreaking about looking at this little face and imagining him trying to survive while constantly being bullied and chased away. He didn't ask to be the smallest.๐Ÿ’” He didn't ask to be the one picked on. ๐Ÿ’”He was simply trying to find his place in a world where every single day is already a fight for survival.๐Ÿ’”
And now he needs us.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Hismedications, treatment, specialized diet, and the weeks of rehabilitation that may follow all come at a cost and Buddy arrived at a time when we are already caring for so many injured and orphaned animals.
๐Ÿ™ We are urgently fundraising for Buddy's medical care and rehabilitation.
When hundreds of people each give just a few dollars, it becomes the medical care/ medications, food, and safe place that can change an animal's entire story๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.
Buddy has spent enough of his young life being the one who gets hurt.๐Ÿ˜ข
From this moment forward, we want him to know what it feels like to be the one everyone is fighting FOR. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿฆโค๏ธ
Please donate if you can, share if you can't, and send Buddy all the love and healing energy you have.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Tomorrow we find out what his road to recovery will look like.
Tonight, we remind him that he doesn't have to walk it alone. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ’” HE SURVIVED THE FISHING LINEโ€ฆ NOW WE NEED TO MAKE SURE HE GETS BACK TO THE WILD. ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿชฝ๐Ÿฉต
This beautiful blue heron( who we've named Harrison after his finder) was brought to us yesterday by the amazing Barbara Miller after becoming dangerously entangled in fishing line.
Something as simple as a piece of discarded fishing line can become a death sentence for wildlife.
The line had wrapped tightly around his feet and toes, restricting circulation.... And now we wait.
We wait to see the color return๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
We wait for the swelling to improve.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
We wait for those toes to show us that they are going to survive.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Because for a bird like this, his feet are everything.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
They allow him to stand in the water, balance, hunt, and survive. His future in the wild depends on them.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Right now, we are incredibly hopeful. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ We believe he has a very real chance of making a full recovery and returning exactly where he belongs but until that moment comes, he needs us.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
And this beautiful boy has quite the appetite.
๐ŸŸ Approximately 500 MINNOWS. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. ๐ŸŸ
That is what it takes to properly feed just ONE patient like him.
We are desperately fundraising for his care while we give his body the time it needs to heal. Every minnow, every medication, every day of supportive care and every safe night in our hospital brings him one day closer to freedom๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.
Please consider donating toward his care.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
And please NEVER leave fishing line behind. Pick it up even if it isn't yours. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸผA few seconds of our time could prevent days of suffering for an animal who has absolutely no understanding of why he suddenly cannot free himself.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
He didn't deserve to end up tangled.๐Ÿ’”
He deserves to feel the water beneath his feet again๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
He deserves to spread those enormous wings, take to the sky, and never see the inside of our hospital again. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
For now, we will keep feeding him those 500 minnows a day, watching those toes, and fighting for the moment when we can open our hands and watch him fly away. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿชฝ
Please donate if you can. Please share if you can't.
Let's get this beautiful boy back to the wild. ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฉต

๐Ÿ˜‚ WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU VEGETABLESโ€ฆ FIND THE NUTTER BUTTER. ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿฅฌ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿช
Bailey was offered a beautiful assortment of fresh veggies tonight , the kind of plate that says, โ€œWe care about your health, your recovery, and your nutritional needs.โ€
Bailey looked over the selection carefullyโ€ฆ
And chose the Nutter Butter. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Because apparently after everything this little groundhog has been through, he has decided life is too short to eat your vegetables first.๐Ÿคฃ
Baileyโ€™s restaurant review
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 2 out of 5 stars.
โ€œToo many vegetables. Would return for the cookie.โ€
Donโ€™t worry , the Nutter Butter was just a special treat. But after surviving a foothold trap, major surgery, and everything else thrown his wayโ€ฆ
We think Bailey has earned the occasional cookie. โค๏ธ
When life gives you lemonsโ€ฆ Bailey says put them back and bring him a Nutter Butter. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿช

"While it wasn't necessarily an unexpected decision, she did give us a small bit of hope when she managed to get herself back up and walking over the first 24 hours. The first 2 nights she did surprisingly well and usually that's the more difficult part. Unfortunately the following night around 4 am she started seizing again. We were able to get it under control but her vet appointment revealed more of the damage that none of us were able to see prior and made it clear this was likely something she would not be able to overcome. She was kept comfortable the entire time and was not alone.
The pellet was was removed and with the amount of damage it left behind, I was surprised she survived as long as she did. Game Commission was updated and both them and local police are taking it seriously and have been in contact. I'm sure this will take some time to investigate but I do believe they will not be letting it go๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
I want to thank everyone for the massive amount of support surrounding Jo.

โค๏ธ A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO CHRIS FROM CLAWS 'N' PAWS! โค๏ธ
We truly cannot thank Chris enough for his incredible generosity and continued donations of Freshpet to our wildlife hospital. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ
Freshpet is something we go through incredibly quickly, especially with so many meat-eating patients in our care, and Chris has been absolutely amazing about stepping up and helping us keep those little (and not-so-little!) bellies full. ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿฆจ๐Ÿฆ…
Donations like these may look like bags of food, but to us, they represent full bellies, proper nutrition, healing, and one less expense we have to worry about while caring for thousands of animals๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.
Chris, your kindness and generosity have made a very real difference for our patients. Thank you for continuing to show up for wildlife and for supporting the work we do. โค๏ธ
From all of us and from every furry and feathered belly you've helped fill THANK YOU! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿบ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆจ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿข
