Lassen County Adult Services is a division within the Community Social Services Department and consists of the following programs: Adult Protective Services, In-Home Supportive Services, & Public Authority. Adult Protective Services serves both elder and dependent adults living in the communities of Lassen County. APS has an emergency response system that can respond 24 hours a day, seven days a w

eek, to referrals of Abuse and/or Neglect of an Elder or Dependent Adult involving life threatening situations or crisis. A dependent adult is aged 18-59 years. Dependent Adult Status is a combination of a disability/functional impairment and the inability to protect one’s own interest. IHSS Program will help pay for services provided to you so that you can remain safely in your own home. To be eligible, you must be over 65 years of age, or disabled, or blind. Disabled children are also potentially eligible for IHSS. Services which can be authorized through IHSS are housecleaning, meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, personal care services (such as bowel and bladder care, bathing, grooming and paramedical services), accompaniment to medical appointments, and protective supervision for the mentally impaired. You must have Medi-Cal eligibility. You must live at home. Public Authority fulfills IHSS services by offering greater access to providers. Establishes a provider registry by screening and maintaining a database of qualified providers. Provides orientations and trainings for consumers and providers. Serves as liaison for IHSS.
