YWCA Pierce County is dedicated to transforming lives through safety, healing, and empowerment.

As an inclusive organization, YWCA Pierce County aids survivors of domestic violence and their children throughout the healing process. The YWCA serves 5,000 adults and children annually, who are seeking help due to domestic violence. Our current services can be divided into four main categories: Therapeutic Services, Support Shelter and Services, Legal Services, and Community Programs. Our regula

YWCA 2025 Impact Report
🧡Shelter & Safety - Local hotel rooms cost $135 per night on average, creating a cost barrier for many survivors fleeing domestic violence. By providing 9,411 bed nights in our shelter, we removed that barrier, saving survivors approximately $1.27 million collectively.
Our shelter also accepts pets, relieving survivors the burden of having to choose to bring their pets or leave them behind.
🧡Childcare Access - With local childcare costs averaging $25 per hour, we eased the financial burden by providing 4,189 hours of childcare and created essential space for survivors to focus on healing. This $104,275 investment in childcare strengthened survivors’ ability to engage fully in services that foster long‑term safety and independence.
🧡Peer Support & Community Healing - Healing happens in community, and our Insights Support Group embodies that truth. Through 543 hours of trauma‑informed group support, 55 survivors found a space to connect, share their experiences, and grow alongside others who understand their journey.
🧡Advocacy & Navigation Support - This year, advocates provided 1,057 hours of individualized support, including safety planning, assistance with the Address Confidentiality Program, and connection to essential resources. Advocacy lifts part of the mental and emotional load, giving survivors room to regain control, make informed decisions, and envision a safer future.

Looking Ahead in 2026...
🧡Prevention & Youth Education - Prevention is key to breaking cycles of violence. Our Education & Prevention team visited seven local high schools so far in 2026, teaching 705 students about healthy relationships and red flags of abuse. We plan to present at high schools in the fall, expanding our reach to teach young people how to build safe, respectful relationships.
🧡Free Trauma-Informed Counseling - Our Counseling program is expanding to meet the growing needs of survivors. While community counseling often costs $100–$180 per session, our services are completely free, removing financial barriers and centering a compassionate therapeutic relationship that supports survivors at every step of their healing journey.

The Community Advocate provides direct advocacy, crisis intervention, and resource support to survivors seeking services through walk-ins, scheduled appointments, or the agency hotline. This position also assists with support groups and education and prevention activities.

🎨This year, we are focusing on the theme of art and healing, honoring the creative pathways that support reflection, resilience, and connection as we stand alongside domestic violence survivors in our community. Art has long been woven into our therapeutic services and is an integral part of how we provide care.
