🧡Thank you to all our wonderful supporters who made GLAM an absolute success this year! Your participation and on-going support make a world of difference in the lives of survivors.

✨GLAM is more than a fundraiser. It is a moment to celebrate the strength and resilience of survivors and to reaffirm our shared responsibility to build a community where healing is possible. A community where we don’t just say we believe survivors, but where we take meaningful action to support them.

➡️If you came to GLAM, please take a few moments to let us know how we did by filling out this survey: https://forms.gle/6WaxKVGd46PRYisX9.

Isolation is a core tactic of abuse, but its consequences are shared by the whole community.

Abuse escalates when people are unsupported, unheard, or unseen, especially during separation, which is statistically one of the most dangerous times for survivors. Community awareness, early intervention, and shared responsibility can save lives, including changes to policies such as firearm access, and a collective commitment to challenge the norms that perpetuate and conceal violence.

Our hearts and our ongoing advocacy are with survivors and their children. We invite our community to stand with us by staying informed, speaking up, and supporting clear pathways to safety.

Two recent intimate partner violence murders have taken the lives of several innocent individuals: https://tinyurl.com/yc5bt7zv. While we know that domestic violence happens every day, in our community and across the nation and world, each time a life, or in this case multiple lives, are taken, it is devastating and preventable.

Did you know, the YWCA has been a part of the Asian American Pacific Islander community’s journey for decades? The Asilomar campgrounds were used for young girls to grow in community and to empower themselves to become YWCA leaders. This Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we celebrate the Asian American and Pacific Islander YWCA leaders who helped shape our mission to Eliminate Racism, Empower Women, and Promote Peace, Justice, Freedom, and Dignity for all.

💙We wear denim today to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault.

In Italy in 1992, a r*pe conviction was overturned because of what a woman was wearing: tight jeans. Following the verdict, women in the Italian Parliament launched a protest by wearing jeans on the steps of the Supreme Court. Patti Occhiuzzo Giggans, Executive Director of Peace Over Violence, saw this and created Denim Day in LA to protest the myths about why women and girls are r*ped. Read more about it here: https://denimday.org/why-denim.

Now, we recognize Denim Day on the last Wednesday in April, by wearing denim as a visible protest, to expose harmful behaviors and attitudes surround sexual assault, and to support survivors.
