Good evening, everyone, welcome to August. Heavy rain was observed in various parts of the Tri-State area today. Radar-estimated amounts were heaviest along the Emerald Coast, Seminole-Decatur-Gadsden County, GA, over and near the Tallahassee airport, the East FL Big Bend, and parts of South-Central GA (Lowndes-Berrien-Worth-Tift-Ben Hill-Irwin). 1:45pm ET Aug 1 - Heavy rain continues, and for the afternoon, that threat could begin to shift inland towards portions of southwest Georgia. 3 to 5 inches of rain in localized area is possible as additional storm development occurs.

1030am ET Aug 1 - It's a wet start to the weekend with widespread rain and a few thunderstorms out there drifting from west to east. Some of the heaviest rain is currently along the southeast Florida Big Bend coast in Dixie county. Slow moving thunderstorms and 2 to 3 inch per hour rainfall rates are likely leading to very localized flooding. However, should these storms continue to linger, some greater flooding concerns could develop. Elsewhere across the area, rainfall and storms have been moving quick enough to prevent flooding. However, with the very moist airmass in place, and the potential for training storms, the flood risks across the Flood Watch area continue.

5 PM ET 7/31 - A Flood Watch starts early Saturday morning and goes through Monday afternoon for mainly coastal parts of the FL Panhandle & Big Bend. Most likely rainfall totals in the watch area will be 3-6 inches, with localized high-end totals of 8-10 inches possible. If you encounter flooding, turn around, don't drown!

Today starts a wetter pattern heading into early next week so don't forget to stash an ☂️ in your vehicle if you are out and about as well as a 🌧️🧥. Not any one day will be a total washout but do expect scattered to numerous showers and storms during the day. Gusty winds may accompany stronger storms. Beneficial rain amounts of 2 to 4 inches is expected with the higher end of that range along the coast into the eastern Florida Big Bend.

2:45pm ET - A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect for much of the Florida Big Bend, North Florida, and southern Georgia. The main concern we're looking at is straight-line damaging winds, potentially as high as 60 to 70 mph, and some of the stronger storm cores could contain hail. The current atmospheric setup is not supportive of tornadoes for this event. If you have plans outside keep a very close eye on radar as storm coverage is forecast to expand through the next few hours.
