Let's get to know Trooper Tuesday.

Trooper Paez has proudly served with the Florida Highway Patrol for 9 years and 2 months and is currently assigned to Seminole County.

He is a member of the Selective Enforcement Squad (SES), which focuses on reducing crashes through targeted traffic enforcement and public education. The squad works to address aggressive driving, excessive speeding, and other dangerous driving behaviors while promoting safer driving habits.

Trooper Paez Hernandez was born in Cuba and came to the United States as a teenager. He became a U.S. citizen in 2013. Reflecting on his decision to pursue a career in law enforcement, Paez Hernandez said, "I wanted to become a law-enforcement officer to give back to the community and country that opened the door to me and my family."

"I appreciate being a Trooper. I've been proactive since I started. Every day is different, and you never know what family you're going to impact. Just by making a traffic stop, we may have saved a life. That's my hope."

More Than a Traffic Stop
"Sometimes it's not about writing a ticket. It's more about communicating and connecting with a teenage motorcyclist and helping him understand the importance of not speeding for his own safety, so he can make it home to his family. Hopefully, that conversation will change his perspective and stay with him long after the traffic stop is over."

Pride in the Black and Tan
"Outside of giving back to the community and hopefully changing lives for the better, wearing this uniform means a lot to me. I take great pride in this uniform. It means a lot to be part of the Black and Tan."

If it smells like it. Sounds like it. And looks like it…it probably is.

Troopers with the Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop in Charlotte County, and a closer look turned up ma*****na, $10,000 in cash, and a passenger with a history of drug and fraud offenses. OH and is an illegal alien with a final order of removal.

CAAT Troopers arrested this Colombian national who had overstayed his visa and had an active felony warrant from Virginia for Obtaining Money by False Pretenses and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. This criminal illegal alien is a member of a South American Theft Group and has previously been arrested for criminal offenses, such as Battery and Driving While License Suspended.

Florida is NOT a sanctuary state.

Troopers with FHP's Criminal Interdiction Unit arrested this motorist last week on multiple drug trafficking and possession charges in Brevard County. If you see suspicious activity on Florida’s roadways, contact *347. Let’s make sure the only things children carry this year are backpacks, not contraband.
