June is National Safety Month, a time set aside to make our workplaces, our roads, and our communities safer places. An important focus of the month for older adults is slip, trip and fall prevention. As we get older, this becomes an even larger concern.
Here are some simple tips to prevent falls:
💙 See your health care provider to discuss health conditions and medications for side effects.
💙 Keep moving to maintain or improve strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
💙 Remove tripping hazards from high-traffic areas in your home.
💙 Light up your living space to avoid objects that are hard to see.
💙 Use assistive devices like a cane or walker if needed.
💙 Wear sensible shoes.
Be safe out there!
