THE OUTHOUSE RACES ARE BACK!

Get ready for one of the most hilarious and beloved traditions of Pioneer Days in Twentynine Palms! 🎉

As part of our 90th Annual Pioneer Days Celebration, teams will race their custom-built outhouses down Smoketree Avenue in a battle of speed, creativity, and community spirit! 🏆

🎉 90th Annual Pioneer Days Outhouse Races
📅 Friday, October 16, 2026
⏰ Race begins at 6:00 PM
📍 Smoketree Avenue, next to Freedom Plaza
🎟️ FREE to participate!
📝 Registration deadline: Friday, October 9

This year's theme is “A Century in the Making: Celebrating 100 Years of the Old Schoolhouse”—so start brainstorming your most creative design!

Teams can have up to 5 people, with one rider inside the outhouse throughout the race. Two outhouses will face off in each heat, with winners advancing toward the final showdown and a chance to take home the coveted toilet seat trophy! 🏆

What a way to kick off the school year! 🎉

Our One-Last-Splash Pool Party was a huge success, bringing out nearly 300 community members for an afternoon of fun!

From music by DJ LX Zandro, exciting games, giveaways and a fun DIY station, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this event such a memorable celebration! ❤️✨

Cooling Center Available!

With the heat index now reaching triple digits in the City of Twentynine Palms, the City’s Cooling Center, located at the Twentynine Palms Senior Center, 6539 Adobe Road, will be open today to offer relief to residents. The Cooling Center will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

City officials urge residents to help reduce the risk of heat-related problems by following a few simple steps to stay cool:
• Increase your fluid intake, especially water, regardless of your activity level.
• If you or someone you know is feeling ill from the heat, remove them from the heat immediately, offer water and seek medical help or call 911.
• Limit outdoor activity to morning and evening hours.
• If you work outside, be sure to begin drinking fluids well before your job begins and keep drinking fluids. Try to arrange your work, if possible, in the cooler hours of the day.

Seniors, infants, young children, and people with chronic health conditions are most vulnerable to health problems during hot weather and should take extra precautions. Additionally, residents should check on their elderly family members, neighbors and friends during extremely hot weather to make sure they are safe and comfortable.
