Vallejo Engine 327 has been deployed as part of multi-county strike team 2140C to the Little Fire, currently burning near Sunol, CA.

The Fire currently sits at just over 1,000 acres and is 40% contained. Four Vallejo firefighters departed earlier today on E327 to assist with fire containment efforts.

🏆 Congratulations to our 2026 Vallejo Fire Department Officer of the Year, Captain Brandon Whitney! 🚒

Captain Whitney has served the Vallejo Fire Department for 12 years, including the past 3 years as Captain, and exemplifies leadership, professionalism, and service.

A respected mentor and instructor, he is a subject matter expert in PPE, HazMat, ICS, Property Conservation, and Community Risk Education. He also serves on our HazMat Team, Water Rescue Team, Tactical EMS, Honor Guard, PPE Committee, and county EMS committees.

Throughout his career, Captain Whitney has helped develop Vallejo’s Helicopter Rescue Program, launched Solano County’s HazMat Drone Program, organized the county’s largest multi-agency emergency drill, improved EMS protocols, and secured funding for critical firefighter safety equipment.

Known for his humility, kindness, and dedication to both his crew and our community, Captain Whitney leads by example every day. His commitment to training even helped equip a City employee with the CPR skills that later saved their own child’s life.

Captain Whitney’s service, innovation, and commitment to others embody the very best of the Vallejo Fire Department.

A Life Saved. A Community Protected.

On April 9, 2026, at 9:52 a.m., Engine 21 responded to a report of a cardiac arrest in front of 328 Del Mar Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found an adult male unresponsive in the middle of the roadway.

Within moments, the crew confirmed the patient was in cardiac arrest and immediately began high-quality CPR, provided assisted ventilations, and delivered lifesaving defibrillation. Through exceptional teamwork, rapid decision-making, and skilled emergency care, Engine 21 successfully achieved Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC)—restoring the patient’s heartbeat.

The patient was transported Code 3 to the hospital, where he arrived awake, alert, and talking with emergency department staff.

Stories like this remind us why every second matters during a cardiac emergency. The quick actions of our firefighters, working alongside our EMS partners, gave this patient the opportunity to return home to his family.

We are honored that the patient and his wife will be joining us at an upcoming City Council meeting as Engine 21 is recognized for their outstanding lifesaving efforts. Their presence is a powerful reminder of the impact our first responders have every day.

The Fourth of July brought a significant increase in emergency activity across Vallejo, with firefighters responding nonstop to fires, medical emergencies, and other urgent calls throughout the holiday period.

From July 4 into the morning of July 5, Vallejo Fire Department responded to 101 total incidents, including 33 fires, 58 EMS calls, and 20 vegetation/bush fires.

Fireworks continue to create a significant risk to our neighborhoods, open spaces, homes, and first responders. Thank you to our crews, dispatchers, public safety partners, and community members who helped keep Vallejo safe during a very busy holiday period.

Please celebrate safely, report emergencies immediately, and help us prevent fires before they start.

Over his 8 years with VFD, Kevin has consistently demonstrated professionalism, humility, and an unwavering commitment to both the department and the Vallejo community.

From mentoring recruits and leading physical training to serving on the TEMS team, supporting grant writing, and stepping up during critical incidents, Kevin exemplifies what it means to serve with excellence. His compassion for patients, dedication to his fellow firefighters, and positive attitude make him an invaluable member of our team.

A proud Vallejo native, Kevin treats every call with professionalism and every patient like family. We also recognize the support and sacrifices of his family, whose encouragement has been an important part of his journey.

Incident Advisory:
Early this morning, the Vallejo Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire within Setterquist Park in North Vallejo. The fire was largely extinguished, however small areas have been allowed to continue to smolder while being monitored by fire personnel. This allows for further reduction of future fire potential with no current hazards presented to residents in the area.

If you see smoke or small flames within Setterquist Park this morning (7/1/26), rest assured fire personnel are aware and monitoring.

Vallejo, CA – The City of Vallejo and its Fire and Police Departments are reminding residents that all fireworks are illegal in Vallejo, including aerial fireworks, firecrackers, sparklers, and so‑called “safe and sane” devices. This is not only a legal issue — it is a critical fire and life safety concern.

High Fire Risk This Weekend
Warm temperatures, dry vegetation, and winds expected to exceed 20 mph at times will significantly increase the risk of fireworks‑related fires. Under these conditions, a single spark or stray ember can ignite vegetation, threaten homes, and endanger lives.

Impact on Emergency Services
During last year’s July 4th period, the Vallejo Fire Department responded to 89 calls for service, double the normal volume. Most fire incidents were linked to illegal fireworks. High call loads can delay responses to fires, medical emergencies, and other urgent incidents.

Community Responsibility
Residents are urged to:
Avoid using or allowing illegal fireworks on or near their property.
Be considerate of neighbors, veterans, children, and pets affected by loud explosions.
Attend permitted professional displays for safe holiday celebrations.

When to Call 911
Call 911 only for immediate threats, such as active fires, injuries, or fireworks used in dry vegetation. Provide a specific location and description.
For general noise complaints or fireworks heard without a known location, please do not use emergency lines.

Holiday Readiness
The Vallejo Fire Department will be fully staffed throughout the weekend.

During the month of May, Vallejo Fire Department personnel responded to 1,724 unique incidents and completed 2,191 apparatus responses throughout our community.

Our crews answered calls across a wide range of emergencies, including:
🔹 938 EMS calls 🔹 77 fire incidents 🔹 58 fire alarms / false alarms 🔹 36 motor vehicle accidents 🔹 46 public assist calls 🔹 22 hazardous condition incidents
