🌩️ SEVERE STORM UPDATE — 8:38 PM 🌩️

Mother Nature has apparently chosen violence tonight. 😂

A nasty, rowdy line of storms is plowing ESE, with severe thunderstorm warnings lighting up the map. We’re talking 40–60 mph winds and hail up to quarter size — because apparently regular rain wasn’t dramatic enough. 🧊💨

Basically, Mother Nature is driving around throwing ice cubes at us and yelling, “DUCK!” 😂

Stay alert, stay weather-aware, and maybe bring the patio furniture inside before it decides to relocate itself to your neighbor’s yard.

Stay safe out there! 🌩️🚨

There will be firefighters!😍

You doing anything September 20th? If not you should sign up for the 7th annual Jog For Dogs being put on by the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter. We will be working with this wonderful group of individuals by stuffing our Squad with items they could use. All proceeds go directly to the shelter. If your not feeling the running/walking event that’s ok to we will be taking donations to those who arnt participating in the event as well. 7/14/26: This morning at 6:55 a.m., the Maple Heights Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 5200 block of Henry Street after a nearby resident noticed smoke coming from the roof.

Firefighters quickly located and extinguished the fire, which was confined primarily to the first floor. The home was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

We appreciate the assistance provided by our mutual aid partners from Garfield Heights, Bedford, Valley View, Warrensville Heights, and Solon Fire Departments.

Thank you to the neighbor who quickly recognized something was wrong and called 911. Early notification helped prevent the fire from becoming much more significant.

This is a perfect example of The Chain Of Survival. Amazing work to everyone involved!

Early CPR and AED saves lives!

On June 16th a worker at ODOT in Garfield Heights experienced a medical emergency resulting in cardiac arrest.

Quick thinking and prior training of fellow ODOT workers helped to save their fellow co workers life that day.

Independence and Valley View fire were dispatched mutual aid to ODOT that day due to Garfield Heights Fire fighting a house fire.

EMS transported the patient to a local hospital where she made a full recovery. If it were not for the effort of these workers the outcome would have been much worse.

Today the City of Garfield Heights along with firefighters from Independence and Valley View who responded that day came together to honor the outstanding efforts of these workers.

Independence Fire offers CPR/AED training to those who are interested in becoming certified. Please contact the station to sign up for a class.

Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and honor the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

As you enjoy time with family and friends, please celebrate responsibly:
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
🔥 Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby if using legal consumer fireworks.
🍔 Never leave grills or fire pits unattended.
🚗 Don’t drink and drive—plan for a safe ride home.

🚒☀️ EXTREME HEAT ALERT ☀️🚒

Valley View Fire Department reminds everyone to take extra precautions during this week’s high temperatures.

🌡️ Stay Safe:
💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
👒 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

❤️ Check on the Elderly
• Call or visit older family members and neighbors.
• Make sure they have a cool place to stay and plenty of water.
• Never leave anyone in a parked vehicle.

🐾 Protect Your Pets
• Provide fresh, cool water at all times.
• Walk pets early in the morning or later in the evening.
• Avoid hot pavement—it can burn their paws.
• Bring pets indoors or provide plenty of shade.
• Never leave pets in a parked vehicle.

🚗 Remember:
The inside of a vehicle can reach dangerous temperatures within minutes—even with the windows cracked.

📞 If you see someone suffering from heat exhaustion or heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
