At 3:53pm, Waldoboro Fire Department was alerted to a tractor trailer on fire on Ralph’s Hill. First arriving units found the tractor fully involved. Route 1 was closed for just over four hours. We greatly appreciate the assistance of our mutual aid partners including Jefferson Fire & Rescue, Nobleboro Fire and Rescue, Bremen Volunteer Fire Department and Warren Tiger Engine Company on this very chilly evening. Thankfully there were no injuries. Also thanks to Automaster Collision Center, Tyler's Towing and MDOT for helping get the road opened back up.

Route 1 is now open. Thanks for your patience!

US Route 1 is shut down between W. Main St. and Route 32 due to a tractor trailer fire. Seek alternate routes.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Firefighters were out this evening clearing snow from the town’s hydrants following yesterday’s storm. We’re taught that fire doubles in size every minute. Now just imagine the consequenses if it took 15 minutes to dig out the hydrant to access water (like this one did tonight). PLEASE refrain from plowing snow against or snow blowing on top of fire hydrants. Better yet, adopt a hydrant near you and help keep it clear. It could make all the difference in an emergency!!

After 30 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Rockland, Assistant Fire Chief Adam Miceli will retire as of 0700 tomorrow morning. A/C Miceli has been instrumental in this department’s growth and progression. What he has done for the Rockland Fire & EMS Department will be evident for years to come. He has developed many of our current and upcoming leadership staff by always leading from the front.
Adam, we wish you all the best and we can’t thank you enough for your guidance and mentorship. The coffee will always be on and we hope you stop by often.
