Generation Hope just wrapped our annual staff retreat! 🫶🏽

It was such a gift to connect in person with teammates from across the country and chart the path ahead together.

Now that the vision’s clear, it’s time to rest — so we can come back ready to put it all into action. We’ll be back online August 3 to carry the work forward. ❤️✨

What does the economy look like through the eyes of families navigating college, childcare, housing, and rising costs all at once?

We're proud to see Generation Hope New Orleans Scholar, Britni Billings, contribute her perspective during MSNBC's MS NOW roundtable discussion.

Student parents bring valuable insight to conversations about affordability, higher education, and economic opportunity. Their experiences help show the realities behind the data and strengthen conversations about the policies and investments families need.

Thank you to Maya Eaglin and the MS NOW team for creating space for this important dialogue.

Today’s economy is HARD for everyone, but especially people raising children. Day in and day out rising costs are impacting every aspect of our lives.

Being a student parent only amplifies these challenges as families try to balance childcare, tuition, groceries, rent, and all the decisions that come with pursuing a degree while taking care of a family.

We’re so proud to see our New Orleans Scholar, Britni Billings , sharing her perspective and experience and helping shape the national conversation on MSNBC’s MS NOW.

Thank you to Maya Eaglin and the MS NOW team for making space for this important discussion.

Maryland and Virginia have become the 7th and 8th states to require colleges and universities to collect data on student parents, marking an important milestone for higher education.

This achievement reflects years of advocacy led by organizations like ours alongside parenting college students, researchers, institutional leaders, and partners across the country. We are especially grateful to the legislative champions in Maryland and Virginia whose leadership helped make these laws a reality.

Collecting student parent data is more than a reporting requirement. It gives colleges a clearer understanding of who they serve, helping inform policies, programs, and resources that support student parents as they pursue a degree while raising a family.

We look forward to continuing this work with partners across the country to ensure every student parent has the opportunity to succeed.

Generation Hope's student parents are continuing their policy advocacy on Capitol Hill, speaking up for parents and families across the country!

During ‘The Child Tax Credit: Our Children Deserve More’ briefing hosted by the ABC Coalition and Center for the Study of Social Policy, parents shared their firsthand experiences with the Child Tax Credit and offered recommendations for how it can better support families and give every child a stronger foundation for the future.

Generation Hope alumni and ABC Coalition Parent Advisory Board member Joseph Yusuf joined advocates in urging policymakers to strengthen the Child Tax Credit. His advocacy reflects the experiences of many families who benefited from the expanded monthly Child Tax Credit during the pandemic and who know how meaningful consistent financial support can be.

At Generation Hope, we believe the voices of student parents are essential in shaping policies that reflect the realities families face every day. We're proud to see our community leading these conversations and advancing solutions that can reduce financial hardship and expand opportunities for parents and children alike.

Join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our 2024 FamilyU Cohort!

Over the past two years, five colleges and universities partnered with Generation Hope to strengthen the support available to student parents and create more family-inclusive campus environments.

Together, these institutions developed and implemented meaningful changes that help student parents pursue their education while caring for their families.

Congratulations and thank you to City College of San Francisco, El Camino College, Southern University of New Orleans, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and The University of New Mexico for your partnership, dedication, and commitment to advancing opportunities for student parents.

We are grateful for your leadership and look forward to seeing the lasting impact of this work on campuses and in the lives of student parent families!

We're asking our Dallas-Fort Worth community to help ensure every new Scholar begins the academic year with the support they were promised.

This month, 8 student parents accepted their place in Generation Hope's Scholar Program. Currently, only 6 have been matched with a Mentor, leaving 2 Scholars without the one-on-one support they'll need when they arrive at our July 18 kickoff.

Mentors spend just a few hours each month connecting with a Scholar, offering encouragement, sharing experiences, and serving as a consistent source of support throughout their college journey. Generation Hope provides training and guidance to help Mentors feel prepared and connected every step of the way.

If you've been considering mentoring, now is the time to get involved. And if you're unable to volunteer, we invite you to share this opportunity with your colleagues, friends, and professional network.

This weekend, we welcomed a new cohort of Scholars and Mentors to the Generation Hope community in New Orleans.

The kickoff event created space for Scholars and Mentors to connect, build relationships, and prepare for the upcoming academic year. As student parents work toward earning their degrees, having a strong network of encouragement and support can make a meaningful difference throughout their college experience.

We're excited to welcome our newest Scholars and grateful to the Mentors who have committed to walking alongside them this year. Their partnership reflects the power of community and the impact that dedicated volunteers can have on student parents pursuing higher education.

Here's to a successful year ahead for our New Orleans cohort!

🚨URGENT CALL🚨 Dallas-Fort Worth, we’re almost there — our Scholar Kickoff is July 17, and we only need TWO more mentors to make sure every new Scholar starts their Generation Hope journey with someone in their corner!

Just one application could mean a student parent walks into kickoff knowing they have someone cheering them on from day one.

Not in DFW? You can still help by sharing this post, texting it to a friend, or tagging someone who would make an incredible mentor. Let’s make sure every Scholar has the support they deserve.

🔗 Apply by Wednesday, July 15, through the link in our bio.
