“The reason why the police response is so harmful may not be because there’s an excessive force incident — it’s because you’re not getting effective treatment...If you called the EMTs for your broken leg and they sent someone who didn’t know how to set a broken bone, that’s denying you effective care. People with mental health crises, that’s their experience with emergency response services." - Michael Perloff, Interim Legal Director, ACLU of the District of Columbia

We are suing the city over the use of police in mental health crises. Learn more about this issue and our fight for proper care in The Marshall Project's latest story:

There are more than 100 response teams nationwide, but experts say more research on their impact is needed.

📉 In DC, the wealth gap is striking: the top 20% of households control nearly 90% of the city’s wealth, while the bottom 20% have just 0.1%. This disparity is not just a local issue—it's a growing trend nationwide.

🎬 Join us for a screening of "Inequality for All," an eye-opening documentary that explores the effects of this widening divide and examines potential policy solutions.
