AMAZING: Federal Judge Sets June 12 Deadline For Trump's Name to Come Off the Kennedy Center
A federal judge has officially set the clock, and Trump's name has less than two weeks left on one of America's most celebrated cultural landmarks.
U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled in favor of Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty of Ohio, a sitting member of the Kennedy Center's Board of Trustees, who sued to reverse the institution's politically driven name change and block a two-year closure. Cooper found the board had overstepped its legal authority and ordered Trump's name wiped from the building's facade, all signage, and every piece of official material connected to the venue.
The center's general counsel wasted no time, sending staff a memo Thursday ordering immediate updates to email signatures, letterhead, and internal documents. Every interior and exterior sign carrying Trump's name must be gone by June 12.
The name change sparked outrage the moment it happened. In December, the Trump-stacked board voted to rename the landmark, and crews were bolting his name to the facade within hours. Legal experts and lawmakers pointed out immediately that renaming a federally chartered institution required an act of Congress, not a board vote by presidential allies.
The court has spoken. The name is coming down.
